How come is the Black Keys album up at the top :duno:

Sounds like an inferior 70's album

But that’s the whole point Finn, you ought to listen to them - if not the whole album in full at least giving them a go.

Funny you say that, the Gaslight album was ok but thought a lot of it was 80's Springsteen

Sorry folks, I prefer albums to sound fresh & different during the 2000's, it's just me preferring something more challenging, each to their own!

Not sure it does tbh mate.
Actually I got half way through it, and thought, I'm surprised Leon likes this.

Have you not followed the Black Keys' development, then? They started off as a raw garage blues outfit, but there was always more to the songwriting than retro tropes.

Attack and Release is the first album with Danger Mouse, a collaboration which has seen them move in a more complex, psychedelic soul direction. Each album is a development and a progression, so I don't think your criticism holds up.

Try El Camino or Turn Blue, both excellent albums.

About a thousand bands that sound like The Gaslight Anthem, they're decent as is the album but it's not challenging. It is catchy though so can understand the appeal to some. Nothing original here though, which is fine.. Reminds me of the Doves at times

Black Keys are more interesting though again not really something I'd chase down, but if they have evolved from the first album or two I could be wrong. It would be a rare thing to find a band of whom the latter albums are the identity.

The four albums with Danger Mouse are probably the standout, with Turn Blue being the furthest from their original sound. El Camino is a joyous driving record. They've produced the latest one themselves, and returned to the fuzz guitar sound on some songs. Throughout, it's the melodic song writing which lifts them above average imo.
