Try to end on a positive note so.

Well done Ian.

You tried to do something, took people on to try and create something, tried to play forward rather than back.

Didnt always get the pass right but at least Ian was positive.

Earned his place in our matchday 18 which is more than you can say for anyone else.

Totally agree. His running was lively. Final ball lacking a couple of times. But at the end of last season he was playing some really nice through balls. He looked good today. I think he should be part of a 22 man squad but not automatically on the bench this season. But with the depth we have he'll probably be on the bench every game
We've been through it all together. And we've had our ups and downs

Ian Poveda vs. Man City:

45 mins played
23 touches
8/11 succ passes
6 ground duels won
2 ball recoveries
2 successful take-ons
2 tackles won
2 times fouled
1 cross
1 chance created

Magnificent display off the bench and had a huge impact on the game. Such an exciting player :fire:

I see Poveda getting a lot more time on this display. He's got fast feet and clearly scared the crap out of Mendy.

Great photo. Pep always comes across as a genuinely nice bloke and nice to see him have a smile when shaking Ian's hand which would suggest he likes Poveda and is happy to see him, and see him doing well, and not like some managers who wouldn't have had any real interaction with their youth players.

Love Poveda.

Absolutely class for his age.

Wouldn't swap him for Silva, Mahrez or Torres, he did better than all 3 in his 45 minutes.

He made Mendy look so poor.

Fully deserves to start vs Wolves.

I would be carefull to compare him with other players as of now. We have to remember that the pitch was was very tough to play on with all that water. And Mendy tormented us with his pace in first 45 minutes and got tired as the match progressed like many other fit players there.

Having said that, Poveda is a bright prospect. I was really positively surprised by his control, he has the pace but to have such control on the ball at this age is incredible.

Hernandez, when fit can play one half and Poveda the second. But we still need two more internatioal signings, I will be more comfortable then.

Deffo seems like he is a popular lad amongst the players and has a cracking attitude.

Love this lad, and think he was a shrewd signing for effectively 1 million (free+add-ons). Perfect for the dressing room moral, and always a smile.

Also agree he could be a Premier League star in a couple of years if he keeps his head down and works his socks off. Certainly Marcelo rates him evidenced by playing him against Man City, where he showed some clear ability. Even though first team appearances will be at a premium this season, he will get game time for sure. Can see him following Foden's trajectory where he plays bit-parts this season to then become in contention for first XI football next season.

What a character, the lad always smiling & has a infectious humour in the dressing-room

Love him, hopefully he'll prove a big hit at ER, his personality certainly shines through at Thorp Arch

Probably the new Alioski in the dressing room but hopefully amounts to something more consistent on the pitch
