Re: Today's Games
The Crawley Town chairman has just announced that on the back of his last two England performances Harry Kane has just secured his dream move.
Re: Today's Games
Agree Pickford & Mings the only two to come out of that game with credit.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 7:26 am I agree with this Leeds 1000.
Dreadful performance against a bang average side.
Pickford was MOTM for me and Mings the only other who did fairly well, otherwise there was no way we'd have kept a clean sheet.
We'll be out as soon as we meet a decent side in the knockout stages.
Southgate is the main culprit, but who out of those players actively went out to assert themselves and win the match? None that I saw.
As you say WR we have no chance when we face a quality team
France was my winning choice initially but the Italians have come right into the reckoning with tremendous stats to back up their superb performances.
Portugal, Spain, Belgium & Germany will also batter us too!
England were always false favourites, just a bunch of individuals who'll no doubt will be heading home with their tails between their legs soon.
Ahh well the so-called superstars Grealish, Sterling, Rashford, Kane, etc will still be making a fortune playing for their respective PL clubs next season.
Re: Today's Games
Levi would have been hoping for a masterclass from Kane...add a few more millions to his value. Oh dear

Re: Today's Games
Grealish is a very good footballer but needs to stay on his feet and get less selfish. Bielsa would turn him into a world beater by cutting out the diving and improving his link up play.

We pick these yes men, inoffensive coaches, who have never achieve anything, like Southgate, Hodgson, McClaren, etc, and then they fail. Rinse and repeat. Meanwhile all these supposedly world class players show nothing in an England shirt on the biggest stage: Kane, Rooney, Sterling, Grealish, Lampard, Gerrard, Rio, Fowler, even going back to Hoddle and Wilkins, etc.
They can nicely trot along picking up their big wages without a care in the world. We've picked more experienced foreign coaches like SGE and Cappello and they had the same negative effect.
Southgate's tactics are shite, and he's now likely to revert to type and go even more conservative with his trusted pets. I expect his side against the Czechs will be:
Pickford
Walker
Stones
Maguire
Trippier
Rice
Henderson
Mount
Rashford
Sterling
Kane
We could still beat the Czechs, but will go out in the following round and I don't expect that Southgate will fall on his sword.

Kane is like an old carthorse.
He's not the same player after the various injuries he has had.
An excellent penalty taker, though.

Re: Today's Games
The trouble is though that without a way of playing and players being on the same wavelenght then it will always be hard for anyone to really assert themselves as they don't have the options when they have the ball. Take Leeds as an example and we have seen when Ayling has had to move to centre half that we miss his runs down the wing and it has a huge knock on effect all over the pitch. So throw a bunch of individuals together and you have that same situation all over the pitch, players getting the ball and not having their usual options so it means they cannot keep the ball moving quickly and it all becomes pedestrian. Leeds, with lesser players, have players moving continually, the player with the ball always having 2 or 3 pass options as well as the option to simply knock it into a space knowing that a team mate will be looking to get into that space. The play doesn't slow down as the player in possession is not having to wait for options, wait for team mates to make runs - the second he gets the ball he knows where the rest of the players are - he can play a blind pass knowing his team mate will 99/100 be there.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 7:26 am Southgate is the main culprit, but who out of those players actively went out to assert themselves and win the match? What we need is a cool calm and collected appraisal from a Scotsman, that is unbiased and makes an analysis that is cohesive and well-reasoned.

Re: Today's Games
fair enough - most england fans see differently tbh, there was a huge roar when he came on and most people were massively applauding when he came on. was motm in the last few england games too...just adds a lot of creativity into a side that has very little

Re: Today's Games
Yes, and from past tournaments Denmark and Greece also provided examples of teams that didn't have the most skilled individuals but were well drilled and committed to playing as a team. We're a million miles away from that and this has been going on for decades, with the FA's seal of approval.weasel wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 11:01 am The trouble is though that without a way of playing and players being on the same wavelenght then it will always be hard for anyone to really assert themselves as they don't have the options when they have the ball. Shame, as we're just wasting generation after generation of talent and opportunity.

Re: Today's Games
Lets be honest ....there is a change in the force ... What MB has done in the premier league this year is completely destroy the myth of the "superstar" mentality... the knock on effect is it really shows at the England level where this myth has particularly suvived... when you pick a bunch of "superstars" and have a manager with no tactical sense...(Southgate thinks tactics are those little white mints ) ... it truly is pathetic.

The Czech Republic are a decent side, play like we did yesterday & we'll get beat.White Riot wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 9:55 am This has been the problem for many decades Leon.

Re: Today's Games
Think Hungary have done okay so far, they've been very unlucky to be drawn in such a hard group.
Can't understand how France, Germany and Portugal can end up in the same group?
Portugal won the last Euros, France won the last World Cup and Germany won the World Cup before that.
Whatever happened to seeding?
