Depeche Mode's Black Clelebration..which got me thinking where all of this started on waccoe with MAMF's original Albums That Never Die On You thread (also bought to mind by Sara's recent thread which I've yet to post on)..1986 and that DM album has yet to let me down...and it peaks at Stripped which is perfect timing for me.

Spent most of a day last week with a colleague and one point we were talking about live acts (he was in the Blueskins toured with Weller) I mentioned I’d seen Roachford in Newport I think 1988 one of the best live voices I’ve ever seen.
So pulled out a couple of old Roachford tracks and been listening to him on the train to London this morning

Patrick Bamford Greatest hits ....very short album I was through it in 30 seconds. A bit John Cage I thought, but shorter

Mine are Billy Eilish - WWAFAWDWG - Which is the greatest pop album since Capt Fantastic
Hold Steady - Almost Killed me - Which is the best Rock album of the century so far
Ryley Walker - Deafman Glance - Which is just a stunning piece of songwriting
Hot Rats - Zappa Beefheart - Which is probably the most played album here over the last 25 years.
Nilufer Yanya -MU - Best female songwriter for me since KB and JT in their pomp
Hold Steady - Almost Killed me - Which is the best Rock album of the century so far
Ryley Walker - Deafman Glance - Which is just a stunning piece of songwriting

Enjoyed the Walker/Yanya albums
Almost Killed Me & Hot Rats are essential listening imo

The percussion and bass work on the Eilish is second to none...the deliciously dark lyrics are very intelligently written. Bury a friend is a perfect pop song for me
