Re: Recommended TV Drama - Line Of Duty @ 9pm

Not drama but I periodically work through episodes of Forged in Fire, which I find quite fascinating.
If someone held a gun to my head and said i could only leave when i had picked my all time favourite drama . . . . .

Id pick Boardwalk Empire.

Well worth giving another go mate, never got the acclaim it deserved imo.

Forged in Fire, whats that about?

Realky? I really wanted to love it, just it was just "meh" to me. So many better HBO dramas Sopranos, The Wire, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Carnivale.

Deadwood, Sopranos, The Wire were ok but not as good as Boardwalk Empire imo.

For the avoidance of doubt, The Sopranos is the best tv drama ever made!

Dunno what would be my all time favourite, never watched the Sopranos as it feels like it would be about organized crime and I can't stand that kind of TV/Film

Endeavour maybe, Strike probably....

It is, faaip, but that element is almost secondary. Great, character-driven drama and atypical HBO production values.

Endeavour was great

Boardwalk Empire was outstanding, as was the Soprano's but will give it to BE by a nose...Deadwood was another outstanding one, they seemed to mess it up though in the last series and ended it all to soon... the Movie did not really answer any questions.

I will give it another whirl Cjay.

Sopranos is my all time fave.

Forge in Fire is a reality comp. In each episode 4 blacksmiths have to make a knife out of random lumps of metal in a short time period. The blades are tested for strength, sharpness and killing proficiency.

The two finalists make a historical weapon in their own forges.

It's great entertainment 😊

I watched a dark docu last night about the child abuse scandal on the Isle of Jersey and how even to this day, the events still run deep in the community. What is it about the patterns that follow these allegations. First you get the over sensationalism in the media, then when the evidence starts to be questioned the attention then turns on discrediting the victims, the ones that haven't already killed themselves that is due to the trauma of what they have been through. I really do hope that the conscience turns out to be the great moral compass cos i don't know how some people sleep at night, and the ones that do sleep sound are already dead imo. Anyway if anyone likes hard hitting stuff its called:

Storyville: Dark Secrets of a Trillion Dollar Island on BBC Catch-up. Warning it won't cheer you up!

Might be a deliberate ploy Swannie for the next episode to be shown later this year.
