When Adams and Roca both get injured

Or suspended.

Without those two we'd be soft as putty down the middle.

As a few of us thought, letting Kalvin go has turned out to be a real positive for the team.

Maybe the board should be given credit for a good move after all?

Goalkeepers - 3

Ilan Meslier
Joel Robles- 3rd choice goalie, hardly relevant.
Kristoffer Klaesson- Hardly played any first team football, can't be considered 1st team ready with 0 evidence.

Right Wing Back - 3

Rasmus Kristensen
Luke Ayling
Cody Drameh- Doesn't look good enough, not proven Prem standard.

Left Wing Back - 3

Junior Firpo- Has been absolutely shite.
Pascal Struijk-Not a left wing back
Stuart Dallas- Injured

Right Centre Back 2

Robin Koch
Diego Llorente

Left Centre Back 2

Liam Cooper
Leo Hjelde- Largely unproven, not a proven Premier League player atm.

Defensive Mid 3

Marc Roca
Tyler Adams
Darko Gyabi- Has played exactly 0 first team minutes ever, not proven at any senior level.

Centre mid 4

Adam Forshaw- A crock.
Matteusz Klich- Not got the legs for more than cameos.
Sam Greenwood- unproven at senior level.
Archie Gray- Has 0 first team minutes so totally unproven.

Attacking Midfield 4

Brendon Aaronson
Luis Sinisterra
Jack Harrison
Crycencio Summerville- Unproven at first team level.

Forwards 5

Patrick Bamford
Rodrigo
Joe Gelhardt
Wilfrid Gnoto- Unproven at the top level.
Sonny Perkins- unproven at the top level.

That's 9 players with none or hardly any first team minutes.

Can't be considered first team proven at the top level.

Then you have people like Firpo and Rodrigo and Llorente who we are still undecided whether they are good enough consistently.

Is Forshaw good enough?

Has Klich got the legs?

The idea we have lots of depth and proven quality is nonsense.

You could put a negative spin on anything CJ.

Robles has plenty of experience. Very worthy PL second choice. The fact that he's 3rd choice says a lot about how well Klaesson is rated

Drameh was one of the best players in the championship last season and Cardiffs POTY. Making a very worthy squad member

Strujik has been great filling in at LB. As for Hjelde, we have 4 CB's ahead of him

I'll stop there

It's not negative Andrew it's true.

Leo Hjelde
Cody Drameh
Archie Gray
Darko Gyabi
Crysencio Summerville
Sonny Perkins
Wilfried Gnonto
Kristoffer Klaesson

Have hardly any top European league minutes between them.

So they are still just prospects? No matter how much people rate them or whatever they can't be considered quality Premier League first team players.

No evidence of that.

So take them out and you are back to 19 experienced first team players.

2 of those are goalies in Robles and Meslier.

That is now 17.

Which is about the same depth as last season.

Nothing has changed as Victor Orta said it wouldn't last season.

The board want a small (by Premier League standards first team squad).

Which they want to supplement with youth players.

If you are talking about depth and proven quality then those youth players can't be considered it because they aren't proven.

That isn't negative it's just realistic?

Take your points but mine was on the depth and proven quality bit.

Gyabi, it's pronounced JB. I like the initials. Some here call Sinisterra Frank, so I'm ok with using JB

Have hardly any top European league minutes between them.

He listed 27 players. You listed the 8 with least experience. A match squad can only have 20 players.

Drameh was every bit as good in the championship last season as our plyers that got promoted and started our first season in the PL

Gnonto has Italy caps and just got called up again (Despite the comment Marsch made about not ready)

Summerville deserves a run - allowing James to go was the best decision IMO and gives him a chance

With those 3, I'm expanding your 19 to 22. And Perkins was very close to the West Ham team last season. Watching the 21's, Perkins and Gyabi are better than what we had last season and should be around the match day squad too.

19 should be a big enough squad of recognized first team professionals with a few youths as back up - as long as those youths are good enough and I think they are.

Agree to disagree. Damn wish we had a game to watch

Sorry I struggled with your conundrum.

Looks a big strong boy, unsure he is ready for PL football yet, we'll find out when he has an opportunity to show off his skills.

They are playing in the Premier League Two this season Andrew, it's not as if they are up against the best U21s from the top six PL clubs.

Everybody was raving about Lewis Bate & our other young starlets last season, where are they now?

Over the last three seasons, not one outfield U21/23 has cemented a place in our first XI.

Joffy is the nearest, but he's still 3rd to Bamford & Rodrigo in the pecking order.

How do we know, no concrete evidence?

Looks a strong physical boy, good passer & awareness. I truly hope Gyabi is ready, would calm my current concerns.
