I'm going to give this one last try although I honestly don't know why. I must have, by far, the worst record of having songs advance of any regular contributor.

This is not a complaint; I simply have very different musical taste from others on these pages.

50's/60s
Jefferson Airplane 'Good Shepherd'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOWX2-l788A

70's
The Who "Dreaming From the Waist'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y08nK9DgB78

80's
Christine Collister 'How Far to the Horizon?'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJwQd7-VC3w
As fine a singer as England has produced in the last 40 years. A real shame she hasn't found a larger audience.

90's
Patty Griffin 'Forgiveness'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvdV3W8Q1yU

2000 - 2009
Steve Earle 'Amerika V. 6.0'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qucvehojtJM
Even more relevant today than when it was written.

2010 - 2019
Richard Thompson 'The Storm Won't Come'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt2a3WliLA4
The guitar lead covering the last two minutes of the song is astounding. Simply the finest, most tasteful, awe-inspiring guitarist who ever lived.

John, I have the best taste in music of anyone I know and anyone on here but rarely get a song to the final, goes with the territory of brilliance. :) :)

Carry on mate, but you should know by now Richard Thompson isn't going to get you anywhere on here mate.

My theory being there are only around 4 or 5 fans on here, not enough to get him through.

I will not give up. He’s the best songwriter this side of Dylan and the best guitarist since Hendrix joined the band invisible.
