Pablo Hernandez

Post by Cjay »

Is todays player.

Seemed to have disappeared to Qatar to end his career, till Gary Monk got the Spanish international to come to Leeds.

Last season he was the one creative spark, can't understate how important he was.

Now 32, the blistering pace he had as a winger in his Valencia days has largely gone, but the class is still there.

At his worst a lazy git.

At his best quite possibly the most technically gifted player we have had since the Premier league days.

Earnings his caps for Spain during a time when they were the dominant force in football goes to show the class the man has.

So where do people stand on Pablo?

Just wish he was 5 years younger.

At his age we need to use him sparingly, but still a crucial player.

Saiz will need rest at times, and Pablo is perfect to start in those cases.

Also, Alioski, Saiz, Roofe etc they can all learn from Pablo, a player who has played Champions league, international and Premier league football. He has played at the highest level and can teach a lot.

An older head who can still be a difference maker.

Ditto on that, I’m hoping when he retires from playing he comes part of the coaching staff

Pablo has been a good signing for us, he's been a bit average this season but has shown moments of true quality once again this time around particularly around September time. The no look pass to Sacko for his goal at Burnley, the goal at Leicester and the perfectly weighted pass for KP's first goal vs Bolton.
Can't argue with his prodcutivity as a whole either 9 Goals and 11 Assists in 55 Appearances (46 starts) and has had several outstanding games for us.
The main problem with Pablo is his consistency it's been a problem throughout his time at Leeds really. If he could just find a little bit more consistency to his game he would be a top top player for us. On his day he is a top player at this level but he can be very frustrating at times particularly in the games where teams press us a bit more.
I would definitely offer Pablo another deal (his current deal runs out in June) as he can still be an asset to this team even at 32.

When Pablo plays well the whole team plays well as he makes the team tick. I think the main problem with Pablo is that he sees things that a lot of our other players don't and as such they aren't anticipating his passes and he then has to hold onto the ball a bit longer or has to try a pass that isn't on as his team mate hasn't anticipated where to run and then Pablo has to try to get the ball to him where he is rather than where he should be.

The key is that we improve the rest of the team (be it by new signings or simply the existing players improving) rather than dragging Pablo's level down.

Brilliantly today, intelligent and creative . . And worked hard, he ran his butt off and that is the most pleasing part.

This team definitely looks better with him, Saiz and Alioski playing. PH is clever enough to be able to interchange with Saiz in true spanish style rather than being tied down to a position.

So we can put to bed that Hernandez & Saiz can't play together as I've read on here many times. Both are technically clever players who are on the same wavelength
Agree with you when Pablo is on song he makes the whole team tick

Yes we lost our way not long after Pablo went off

His replacement Roofe not in the same class

He's not, in fairness to Roofe on his day there are very few in Pablos league.

He really is exceptional at this level and we are very fortunate to have him.

Wasnt on long but made a difference.

His close control and intelligence won free kicks and took pressure off.

Nice link up play with Ali before the end and was unlucky not to score.

He's class.

But then who do you drop?

On recent form could make a case for Saiz, but he is capable of doing nothing all game then doing something, like the other week.
