In Luke's defence he was coming in hard and I think he anticipated some heavy contact... the right call was made by the ref, which is not what happens with the untouchables ...
Anticipating contact is exactly what diving is...Otherwise you play till or through contact.

Well said Leon, sometimes we are too quick to slag players off after a bad day at the office....

We're all guilty of it in our summaries & reports Swannie

I don't rate Roberts he frustrates the hell out of me, has too many bad/average days at the office as far as I'm concerned. whereas Ayling rarely lets us down, love his energy, workrate & attitude :)

Not Tyler's fault as I believe the Premier League is above his level. I'll probably get shot for having that opinion.

Why would he be trying to get out of the way? Undoubtedly a dive however you may try to justify it.

Ayling gets to play in his position most of the time whereas Roberts is learning a new one and probably the hardest position to play, I have no doubt he's a better striker than Bamford. Wouldn't even need to think about it.

But Bielsa rates both highly so that's what matters at the end of the day, he's seldom wrong

 Not trying to justify it at all... I agreed it was a dive as no contact, and the ref got it right... my point was if the defender had not been as quick thinking as he was by pulling his leg back he would have smashed him, then it would have been a penalty ...so in fact the defender drew the dive

Because it's a fanciful notion ..draw the dive?

 ...So you are saying that if he had not drawn his leg away "(The defender) just in time, and he smahed into Luke , who didnt have the ball...it would not be a penalty ?... I have drawn many penalties ..on the football field, rugby field and at Ice Hockey ... none by diving , just making the other player react...

You can draw a pen, you cannot draw a dive..

Ayling thought he was going to get tackled so reacted as if he was tackled but he wasnt tackled.

Only one person faked a movement and he was playing for us.
