Surely can't be true. Cellino is still in line if his appeal is successful, and even if he isn't, due diligence would have to be done etc. How would a shyster like him pass fit and proper?

Which grapevine?

He got our because we were loosing money, I'm not sure why he would want to get back in now given we are in a bigger mess.

Bates isn't coming back for the reason Shieldsy highlights. He is, however, happy to hang around like a bad smell and tells us all how bad GFH are and how they are so much worse than he was, conveniently forgetting to mention how he f***ed them over by selling off the season ticket and catering revenue. He is beneath contempt and, for however much I hate GFH, we have to remember they would never have got the chance to royally shaft the club without Bates having already brought it to its knees.

I despise GFH, but they did one thing for which I will be eternally grateful, they rid us of bates.

More like shifting his ass on this gold toilet seat that LUFC helped paid for.

Celino misses out on paying £400k import tax and is disqualified.

Bates' list of crimes is far, far worse including attempting to defraud the better part of whole islands from the inhabitants. Bet he has no trouble getting through if he tries.

Makes me want to punch something. Preferably Shaun Harvey shaped.

Was Bates found guilty in a court?

Several times, on libel charges - and the club paid the legal fees for him.

Never done for fraud for some reason, although there were questions asked about his business activities in the House of Lords

He's a complete and utter self serving greedy ba***rd and I wish he'd never ridden through Yorkshire on a train, never mind owned Leeds. But the FL test can't be a subjective 'is he a nice guy or not'. They can only apply objective tests.

Would libel be a criminal offence though? And questions in the House of Lords aren't a conviction of anything.

Objectively, he is a serial tax evader.

He failed to pay the tax due when he was chairman at Oldham, Chelsea and Leeds.

You may regard that as unfortunately "being in a difficult position and unable to pay tax", but by the third occasion I think it should be seen as a deliberate business strategy

I thought you were talking about GFH not paying their taxes

My comment about being unable to pay tax were about GFH not Bates and I differentiated between being unable to pay tax and tax evasion.

I don't think Bates should have been allowed to acquire Leeds (or any other club either) with a record of tax evasion. But two wrongs don't make a right as they say.
