Re: Covid : 52,000 cases reported for first time since January

Meanwhile in Australia… today we had about 130 cases in total and one death (a man in his 80s), and as a result two state governments have more than 7 million people in lockdown!! We have had 3 or 4 people die from covid this year, yet some people and businesses are into their 3rd lockdown of the ye...

Re: Leeds Utd v Tottenham Hotspur Match Thread - Unchanged starting XI, Phillips and Raph make the bench

Of course everyone has the right to an opinion and fans have the right to be critical of players’ performance. And there’s a difference between being critical of individual performances and saying a player is not PL quality (even though they’ve played a huge part in our season). First loss in 7 (inc...

SG90 wrote: Sun May 02, 2021 11:51 am When was that? Everyone was calling for Kiko to be dropped, as he was costing us goals and points. Without his racism ban, Meslier would've never played and probably left the club.
Many were calling for us to get a ‘recognised’ keeper before this season because Meslier wouldn’t be up to the PL.

Re: Did the great man Marcelo get it wrong or was it just a bad day at the office?

God I hope not. We're not progressing with Cooper, Roberts and Klich in the starting line up. The likes of Dallas and Ayling too will start to decline and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bamford have a worse season. We need to improve not look backwards. Strange you say that. When we progressed from...

Re: Did the great man Marcelo get it wrong or was it just a bad day at the office?

Last year many of us were baffled by Bielsa’s persistence with Paddy. And people were crying out for Meslier NOT to be our no. 1 keeper. I think most would agree that MB knew more than we did. It’s pretty clear his vision is for something beyond this season, and his focus is on who can play his syst...

Re: Positives & Negatives v Brighton (a) (one of each please)

Alio has been a liability practically from day dot. It seems to be negated by his immaturity and maverick persona. Full marks to the rest of the team who did so well to cover for this ‘liability’ over the previous 6 matches - including conceding only 4 goals and not losing against the four most exp...

Re: Today's Games

Just watched the send off offence. That decision is even worse than the decision against Balbuena last week. This is nuts. That wasn’t even a tackle, Vardy never had possession - the defender just nicked it away from him. Trajectory of his foot was away from Vardy. Vardy’s leg then moves into the li...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 28th April) - Are Liam Cooper's days numbered as new partnership develops?

If we are going to be competitive for a place in Europe next season we need 4 CBs of our current quality (at least). A potential issue is that Bielsa is not big on the whole rotation thing. So how do you keep PL quality players happy when they are not playing at all? Playing in two losing cup games ...

Re: Leeds Utd v Manchester United Match Thread - Bielsa Names Unchanged Starting XI

Would love to see a VAR representative try to explain how Shaw did not commit a handball offence worthy of a penalty yet Newcastle’s striker committed an offence worthy of having a goal disallowed.
Why aren’t clubs and fans coming together to get rid of this blight on the game?

Berardi to get some game time at least once.
Pablo to start the last game so he can be applauded off by the team when subbed.
But I’m not sure Bielsa is as much of a softy as I am.

Last two games have been our Championship side plus a 19m pound defender against two of the most expensive sides in the world.

Re: Leeds Utd v Manchester United Match Thread - Bielsa Names Unchanged Starting XI

Dare I say it, are we getting harder to beat , and harder to score against ? You’d be right. In four games against top 6 sides (against the best attacks in the country), we have conceded only 2 goals in more than 6 hours of football. And one of them was when we had 10 men. Pretty sure our defence (...

Re: Today's Games

Need extra time to be determined by an independent timekeeper so every minute (and only every minute) of required time is played. If this is done the advantage of ‘time wasting’ is minimised. I’ve seen players carded for time wasting and the ref not add any time. Also, game should never stop for a c...

92nd minute Newcastle make it 1-1. VAR saves Liverpool like it did last season tons of times (it was never handball but VAR loves Liverpool). Newcastle score again in the 95th minute thus Liverpool dont go 4th. Justice :) Ball kicked at him from a metre. Arm next to body. Arm doesn’t move towards b...

Just watched that red card. Unbelievable! Ridiculous.
Stop looking at things in slow motion. If the rule is now that contact with an opponent after kicking the ball is illegal we’ll be playing 7 v 7 most games.

Re: MB Pre Manure

MB is as calm and measured as a Zen Master. Unfortunately I am not. Many smaller clubs (and consequently their fans) have been punished severely for breaking the rules. If the Greedy Six receive no punishment at all it will simply entrench the widespread view that rules don’t apply to them and that ...
