Good Morning. It's Tuesday 13th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Leeds plot Beck capture
Leeds are set to battle it out with QPR and Celtic for highly talented Liverpool starlet Owen Beck. The exciting left-wing-back has been made available for a loan move, after impressive displays north of the border with Dundee last season. Beck is highly thought of at Anfield, but at 22, and two years of his six year contract remaining, Leeds could do a lot worse than try to make the loan move permanent.
Beck has been part of the Welsh setup since his U15 days, and will know Amps, Rodon and James, which could give the Whites an advantage over their competition. Full-backs are few and far between at Leeds, and with Junior Firpo's injury record, it's a position where they desperately need both cover, and competition.
Blades win race to sign Rak-Sakyi
Sheffield Utd have won the race to sign Crystal Palace starlet Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on a season-long-loan, and will undergo a medical at their Shirecliffe training ground later today. A host of Championship outfits including Leeds had also been linked with the 21yo, but the lure of guaranteed game time was something Daniel Farke was not prepared to offer. The Whites are looking to land a big-money signature to replace Summerville, which would inevitably push the Palace youngster further down the pecking order.
Rowe welcomed back to first-team action
Leeds target Jonathan Rowe is set to feature in Norwich City's midweek Caribou Cup match against Stevenage on Wednesday night, after supposedly being dropped from the side that lost to Oxford Utd on Saturday. Journalist Graeme Bailey reported last night that Canaries Manager Johannes Hoff Thorup felt Rowe was not in the right frame of mind to play last weekend, due to speculation linked him to both Marseilles and Leeds, and duly dropped him.
This contradicts earlier reports, insisting that Rowe himself, had refused to play. These latter suggestions seem a lot more credible, as Rowe was made to train with the Norwich youngsters yesterday. For the time being at least, the Canaries are singing from the same perch, and Rowe will return to first-team action. Perhaps if Leeds made an official offer, things would become clearer?
