Love Beckford, there's a lot of him in Roofe but he was a 442 striker would he have been as effective as a 451 winger?

I'm with faaip and Hector on this one, Roofe is a good, intelligent player who looked inconsistent when he was asked to play wide or as a lone front man. Neither of which he is. Play him with an attacking partner and I think we'll see the best of him. Personally think he needs to work a little on his strength, but that's easily remedied with some gym work.

Functional strength and fitness is a coaching thing. I also think he was begining to develop as our left winger late in the season. He and Pearce together looked quality

Decent bench material imo, grabs the odd goal but as others gave said not good enough or suited to playing as a winger or as a lone striker. Probably would be worth selling if we aren't going to play with two upfront

Looks like he may stay although whispers of Blackburn interest according to Phil Hay.

Hope not, don't want to half support Blackburn

Theres others id sell before Roofe.

But he is one of the few i think we could get a decent fee for.

If we can get £7mil plus then he can go.

If that helps fund Vydra then thats a good deal.

54 games 14 goals 10 assists incidentally are Roofes league stats.

As well you should.

The way Roofe was dragging bodies all around the field, Bamford could find himself in lots of open space if the two of them play up top together.

He is the new Ekuban, runs around, tries hard, puts a shift in, couldn't finish a funsize bag of maltesers. Seriously though he has flattered to deceive in his time at the club and hopefully he can be the player we all thought he could be when we signed him, even if Bamford at some point replaces him in the no.9 position I think we need both of them firing in the goals throughout the season.

Sorry stopped reading end of sentence one...I'm a fan of Roofe, you're not, that's fine.

Perhaps you should have just quoted the sentence you had read then as that was the only part relevant to your reply - the rest of my post was about how Roofe could be a crucial part of whether we are successful.

I think we need Bamford and Roofe as a partnership. First time I've had a chance to watch Roofe and he's very good. So much energy and skill - didn't score but made the others look good by dint of his selflessness. I can see why people would think he wasn't influential but he is - an unsung heroI

It took Bielsa to bring him out, or at least bring him to mainstream consciousness.
He's responded and needs to be used. Can you imagine Roofe/Bamford as a Vardy/Mahrez or Kane/Alli/Ericksen - I can!

It excites the hell out of me.

Credit to him yesterday.

He was excellent and finished really well.

Big worry about Roofe imo was he wasnt clinical.

Always had good movement and intelligence but finishing was a bit off.

Yesterday he did brilliantly.

Wonder if knowing Bamford could take his place and wasnt brought in to sit on the bench is motivation for him?

Roofe looks like a Spanish/Argentine striker this season

His confidence must be sky-high right now

Thought he did ok Roofe.

He worked hard, tried to hold the ball up, ran the channels.

Aside from the goal which he punched in.

Id like to see him in the 6yard box more, poaching, looking for those tap ins.

When crosses are flashing across the 6 yard box he should be there ( as he was for the goal tbf).

Just think its an area he could work on.

Watched Billy Sharp for Blades, hes great at it, goal hanging basically.
