Re: 2019/20 Transfer Rumours & Discussion Thread
Don't think we need to replace Saiz. Janson, it seems, would have been our #4 CB this season and White looks a great replacement ...not sure many starting CB would come to sit on the bench and wait for injury. We could maybe use a 2/3 mill guy to back up Beradi...assuming you think Struijk is junk.
If Roofe goes then striker becomes critical for me though. Not sure if you buy first team starter and relegate Bamford or pay a little less for a back up...problem with that is back ups probably won't be great finishers

Still need to get rid of Anita, Ideguchi, Pearce, De Bock too.
Re: 2019/20 Transfer Rumours & Discussion Thread
Hopefully we're still looking at Hefti from St Gallen. Only 21, but already played over 100 games and is their captain, so he would be a good signing.
I don't think Struijk will feature much, if at all. Likely CB 3 will be Berardi, then Ayling, then Davis, then KP. Or in a different order. But Struijk a distance away, unless he works his way in to Bielsa's plans at some point.

Anyone know if there's a certain number of homegrown players needed in the Championship, like the PL? I can only count Cooper, Forshaw, Bamford, Phillips, White, Ayling as homegrown, losing BPF and Roofe makes us shorter. U21s don't count, so that excludes Clarke, Shack, Roberts, Davis etc and Harrison is US developed, so not homegrown.

Harrison was on Man Utd's books iirc as a kid. Would qualify him.

I think homegrown is if you spend 3 years in a youth team before the age of 21, so Kun and Struijk would become homegrown next summer and Bogusz in 2021.
I think Harrison moved at 14, so misses out.

Yosuke Ideguchi back to Gamba Osaka for a "seven figure fee", so we've managed to make a profit on him, despite him barely playing since leaving Osaka.
I still feel sad about this whole thing. We never gave him a chance, but I felt he looked like a good signing and we cost him a chance of playing at the WC. Obviously not speaking English was tough and usually Asian players go to Germany before coming to England. Hopefully he can get his career back on track and get back in the Japanese squad.

Looks like we're competing with West Brom and Stoke to take Dwight Gayle on loan.

Proven goalscorer, guaranteed promotion if we signed Gayle
Unfortunately I can't see us being first past the post to sign him
Re: 2019/20 Transfer Rumours & Discussion Thread
Definitely need to get him in, he would score for fun in this side. The Roofe fee would cover his wages plus any loan fee for the year, so that should be good.SaraM wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 1:24 pm Looks like we're competing with West Brom and Stoke to take Dwight Gayle on loan.

I thought WBA said they couldn't afford to keep him?
Re: 2019/20 Transfer Rumours & Discussion Thread
Get Gayle and promotion is much much closer, how ambitious is AR ?

Forgot about O'Kane and Shaughnessy's existence. Need to get them off the books too.
Re: 2019/20 Transfer Rumours & Discussion Thread
Phil Hay saying we want Ryan Kent to replace Roofe. Hope not. Firstly, he's not a striker and secondly, he's vastly overrated and didn't standout in this league before.
Re: 2019/20 Transfer Rumours & Discussion Thread
Stoke would be the least ambitious move, but they'd probably offer the most money, so he'll go there.
I don't think we will be in for Gayle, as he doesn't seem like a Bielsa type signing.
