James Taylor 'Mud Slide Slim & The Blue Horizon'
Fifty years on this album is still just as magical as I recalled it from all those years ago. Taylor’s voice is so smooth and rich, and his style is so laid-back that listening to him is infinitely comforting. Even when he is singing sad songs, his voice seems to promise that there is hope. His beautiful rendition of Carole King's 'You've Got A Friend' & the gorgeous 'You Can Close Your Eyes' will always be firm favourites of mine
Glen Campbell 'Greatest Hits'
Listening to Glen's voice gives me a true feeling of serenity & peacefulness.
Wichita Lineman, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Galveston, Try A Little Kindness, Gentle On My Mind, Honey Come Back & It's Only Make Believe are unforgettable classic songs
Lily Allen 'Alright Still'
Lily Allen: her of heart-shaped earrings, fluorescent eye liner and summer anthem "Smile", has created a neat, cohesive debut, describing urban life from the clever girl's perspective. The cockney accent and little melodies are funny, clever, and satisfyingly vengeful.
Lilys follow-up album 'It's Not Me It's You' is the album I would always recommend

Are you into the Ozrics at all?
Not sure which I prefer, the Contino Sessions or Dead Elvis, depends on mood I guess

Re: Playlist over the last week......
Thanks to faaip, I'm currently listening to Dope Lemon 'Smooth Big Cat' on Youtube. Album isn't released until September (I think), but all the tracks are on there. Dr John meets the Fun Lovin Criminals, loving it!!

Today's listening pleasures:
The Monks - Early Years (64-65)
Dope Lemon - Smooth Big Cat
Bruce Springsteen - Western Stars (don't listen a lot of Springsteen, but this is excellent)
Jimmy Pinch - Arcana Blue
Jimmy Smith - The Cat

Still playing the above little gem I acquired not so long ago1964white wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 12:09 pm Richard Fontaine ‘Thirteen Cities'
Really enjoying this recent purchase. Although the appeal of this album is evident from the very first play, repeated listens reveal more of the depth and longevity of 'Thirteen Cities', as this is a piece of art which will reward the investment of your time and truly grows in stature with each play
Womack & Womack 'Conscience'
I picked up this album for a quid a couple of weeks ago.
I had forgotten how good 'Conscience' is. I always enjoyed the success of their superb single 'Teardrops' from this album but every other track is appealing, Cecil and Linda Womack writing and performing a sustained set of deeply grooved material, the lyrics as thoughtful narratives on Life, from the nature and impact of true friendship or its loss.
Cracking soul/funk album from the late 80's, not for everyone I know but I love it
