Very sad, read earlier this evening
Wrote some great 3 minute anthems from my teenage years, with Promises being a particular favourite and in my Top 10 singles

Another one from the halcyon punk days, saw the Buzzcocks several times around UK and US.
Always worth seeing live, great band led by Pete Shelley

Re: Pete Shelley
Great songwriter, great guitarist and a punk pioneer. He wrote perfect, punchy 3 minute pop songs. 63 is no age, RIP Pete

Orgasm addict was one of favourite songs as a teenager... Some of the lyrics are very profound....

Re: Pete Shelley
My best mate and I got caned for singing that on the school bus on the way home from playing rugby. We'd been introduced to them by his older brother (now, incongruously, an ordained minister!) and we thought we were dead cool and clever. Not so much when we got six of the best!!

You bad boy.....
I am glad that I was not the only one to be caned at school.....
Being a border we were subject to more rules and therefore got punished more than the day boys..
I had the record for being the most punished pupil at our school in the 70's
That includes pages, being slippered by the monitors and masters, and caned by the headmaster....
my record still stands to this day......

Re: Pete Shelley
As did I, and my record holds firm as they abolished corporal punishment in around 84, IIRC!!hector wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 11:57 am You bad boy.....
