The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Mon 19th Nov)

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning Everyone

Andrea Radrizzani has promised the Leeds Utd players a trip to Vegas if they secure promotion!!!

I'm sure they'd prefer a big bonus, but I wouldn't turn it down!

Anyone here got any good Vegas stories?

Leeds are showing interest in Saints Keeper Frazer Forster. The 6-7 shot stopper is out of favour at St Mary's and a loan spell at Elland Road may suit all parties.

Given the choice, who would you want between the Sticks?

Forster

Gunn

Pope

Heaton

Radebe

Name you best and worst Leeds Utd top 10 Managers!!!

Good morning Matt & all

Unsure who is available we could afford between the sticks but one thing is blatantly obvious we need a experienced keeper who can play Bielsa-ball

As for yet another American ritzy idea from Radz.....surely the players earn enough to be able afford holidays anywhere in the world. If we miss out on promotion is he gonna send the players to Blackpool?

Morning All,

Nice of Radz to offer to take all the players to Vegas if we win promotion but the money they are on they should be able to pay for themselves.
Also, isn't Vegas the gambling capitol of the world? Is this the best example to set to young impressionable men with all the talk of footballers and gambling addictions these days?

Frazer Forster to Leeds? Now we're talking. Let's hope that's not just paper talk and actually happens.
He may be out of favour at the Saints but they have Alex McCarthy as their number 1 at the moment so it's not a huge surprise.
I'd also be happy with either Pope or Heaton if Burnley were willing to loan either of them.
The bottom line is we desperately need to get an experienced keeper in and quick.

As for the managers, boy have we had some bad ones. Dave Hockaday would probably take that accolade. Where is he now?
We've also had some good ones, Don Revie, Howard Wilkinson, Simon Grayson and our own Marcelo Bielsa would top that list for me.

Afternoon Everyone.

A few Managers to discuss.

David O'Leary

Was he a good Manager that got the best of out his youngsters or in the right place at the right time to take advantage of emerging talent?

Will he remember more for getting to a Champions League Semi final or the (alleged) bungs with football agents (and his book on Messrs Bowyer and Woodgate).

Simon Grayson

Was League 1 his punching weight or would you have liked to see what Grayson might have achieved if given money for players?

Paul Blackwell or Brian McDermott?

Garry Monk

Had he stayed last season, could he have got the same out of the players as Bielsa has?

I quite liked Grayson and he definitely wasn't backed by Bates - hell he seemed to sell half the team to Norwich, leaving Grayson impotent. We certainly had some shockers after Larry but Monk steadied us a bit. There's no question he'd have sorted out the defence.

Then that's the place to take some of the players if we miss out on promotion, make them walk the chip carpet and leave them there to sell candy floss

Afternoon Norm, yes I liked Grayson too, when Leeds were promoted from league 1, he was the happiest man alive - great scenes...

A couple of weeks ago I read an article about the 20 places in England with the lowest life expectancies. Birmingham was the southern most city on the list and the vast majority of them were around Manchester. And number one , drum roll please, Blackpool.

When I was a teenager, many WMCs (Working Mens' Club and Institute) used to rent a train to take its members to a seaside resort for the annual trip. Most would go to Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey, Skegness, Morecambe or Blackpool, and some would rotate annually around the resorts which weren't too far away. We went to Blackpool a couple of times but the central area near the Tower was full of rude and crude people egging each other on in questionable behaviour. I never went after about 1978.

Anyone here got any good Vegas stories?
I spent five years working as the room service and hospitality sales manager at Bally's Casino in Las Vegas and lived there for nearly twenty years. I have a multitude of stories. One of my responsibilities was to take care of the dressing rooms for the headliners in the showroom. My favorites were George Carlin and the comedian who opened for him, Dennis Blair.

I was talking to George one day and he said he didn't really like working Vegas because audiences there were far more conservative than in other places and he couldn't use his best political material; he had to stick to the hippy dippy stuff. I said I found that difficult to believe, that people who spent their money on gaming activities would probably be much more accepting. George said, "You going to be around tonight? Come to the show and see."

So I was standing in the wings when George walked on stage, and the very first words out of his mouth were, "Does anyone find it more than just a coincidence that George (HW) Bush has an operation on his a**hole and Dan Quayle has an operation on his middle finger in the same week?"

Grumbles from the audience.

"And why is it that the people who are most violently opposed to abortion are people you wouldn't want to f*** in the first place?"

Booing from the audience.

George looked at me and gave me a shrug to say "see what I mean?" and went on with the show.

I later asked George to sign a copy of his book Brain Droppings for my son's birthday. "How old is the lad?" asked George. "Fourteen," I replied. So george signed the book: "Dear Daniel, go f*** yourself. George Carlin." He handed me the book and said, "Boy's got to learn that life is a series of disappointments."

I said, "I'm his father. He knows that already."

On the subject of a goalkeeper, I'm still a believer in BPF. There may be better options out there right now, but even after the West Brom debacle we've allowed the fourth-fewest goals in the Championship. Surely some of that credit has to go to him. He's still very young and I see that he has the capacity to learn and grow in the position. I truly believe he could grow to be a great keeper for us for many years. To me, he's just the sort of player we need; someone we can develop and then lock in to a long term contract without having to break the bank.

Agreed John but he's just not ready yet in my opinion.
I hope Frazer Forster or Tom Heaton are on their way.
