The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wed 10th Oct)
Good Morning Everyone
Foxes midfielder Harvey Barnes came extremely close to joining Leeds on loan during the Summer; so close in fact, that he had already picked his squad number!
Messrs Hay and Urquhart were being interview on their podcast when asked which player he (Hay) would most like Leeds to sign from a current Championship club, Hay replied, “Easy, Harvey Barnes for me. It wasn’t much publicised over the summer but at one point Leeds were very close to doing that but he preferred the option of staying close to home.
“That basically very nearly happened.”
Podcast co-host Joe Urquhart added, “He’d basically picked a squad number hadn’t he?”
“Yes,” replied Hay. “Essentially he was at Thorp Arch and ready to go… He was on his way for a medical.”
Last time I visited ER, last March, one thing that really surprised me was how very few black or asian fans there were.
We all know Leeds reputation of past, but surely in 2018 all of that is behind us!
Thoughts?
Which other teams in the Championship would you like to see go up / down?

Harvey Barnes maybe about to get recalled in Jan...

I just watched the First episode of the new Dr Who who is now a woman,
and this time around the sidekicks are a young black man who can't ride a bike
and a young asian female police officer. When it comes to TV programmes
there is a definite trend to be multicultural and all inclusive.
Perhaps the BBC feels that there is a need to educate the public and promote
multiculturalism. I have also seen that All Leeds TV are doing their bit to show that
fans from different clubs can have a pint together and talk rationally like sensible
human beings, which is in sharp contrast to the chants you can hear that are
shouted from the terraces... which in my opinion only breed contempt and hatred.
Perhaps Leeds fans glory in being Dirty Leeds and wrecking trams and getting in fights
although these acts may be done by a mindless minority, still when they make the news
then all Leeds fans are tarred by the same brush, which can not be good.
So here is Oscar doing his bit to bring about peace love and understanding.

I know an African Leeds fan who has been going to ER nearly as long as I have, he is sound as a pound & Leeds through & through
Also met our very own Gurj recently at the Brum game, another top bloke who attends several Leeds games every season.
I personally don't think there is a problem, never noticed any racialism between our own fans
It is strange that ER is not as multicultural as say the London grounds. Bradford has a huge Asian population however last time I went to Valley Parade I didn't see many of the Asian community there

Absolutely gutted to hear that we came that close to signing Harvey Barnes, he's a quality player.
I'm really surprised that Leicester loaned him out to be honest, I think he's good enough to get in their side now.
I hope Leicester have the option to recall him in January!
Thankfully racism has almost completely been wiped out at football matches in the UK so it surprises me to hear that there are not many black or Asian fans at ER these days. Unfortunately there is still a big problem in places such as Russia and Croatia.
I don't care who goes up with us at the end of the season but would love to see Millwall go down.
And Ipswich - just to shut up some of the divs I have to work with.
