The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thur 13th Sept)
Good Morning Everyone
Luke Ayling has been talking to the YEP about the strict conditions Bielsa expects from all his player
“I’m the fittest, the skinniest, the leanest I’ve been,” Ayling told the Yorkshire Evening Post. “I thought I was skinny before but [Bielsa] came in and said ‘no, four kilos is what you’ve got to lose’. We had weight targets to reach each day.
“It’s tough and we’re not used to it but we found out in pre-season how it was going to be. We know what we’re going to be doing and that we’re going to be in pretty much every day so it doesn’t bother us. It’s no worries. We’ve lost weight but it’s fat we’re losing, not muscle. We’ve been putting on muscle.
“We’ve done our scans and all the things that should have gone up have gone up. All the things that should have gone down had gone down. There haven’t been any boys who’ve put weight back on or haven’t reached their targets.
“We can’t be carrying that extra weight around. The way he (Bielsa) wants us to work and play, the games come thick and fast and there’s no good in carrying an extra two or three kilos. He’s doing it to help us. You do feel lighter.”
Can you name 11 players that played for both Leeds and Millwall?

Can only think of Morison, Andy Keough, Tony Warner.
Tom Elliott is with them , not sure he made a senior appearance for us though.
You can see the players are leaner and fitter, a big factor in the improvement in the performances.

Good morning Matt & everyone
I noticed after our first couple of games that our players were bouncing appearing as fit as a butchers dog, they actually looked liked athletes to be fair.
Is it any wonder why we ended up halfway down the league with a bunch of overweight blubbers ambling around the pitch, to be brutally honest the same players cheated our fans last year, in the end I stopped applauding them at the beginning & the end of games, they deserved nothing but animosity from our loyal support

Elliott played only a few games handed to him by Dennis Wise, think they were all sub appearances if my memory serves me right. Although very young at that time I wasn't that impressed with him

I see Bradford City are going through managers like a dose of salts, their fourth new coach in 2018.
Michael Collins lasted six games, ex-Leeds player David Hopkin has taken on the reins at Valley Parade.

Morning Everyone,
I've just remembered one.
We signed an absolutely shocking left back (Italian) from Swansea called Bassong (or similar). He went to Millwall.

There's a rumour doing the rounds that Hernandez is out for a month...

Morning all,
Its interesting but not surprising what Ayling says. Wonder how well Lassoga would have done with that regime!
You cant help but feel once we slipped to mid table with a Manager no one wanted the players went on auto pilot and pretty much cheated to fans who turned up.

Afternoon Everyone.
Why are we getting so many injuries?
Are the players being over worked?

Never understood the notion of the players being overworked personally. They are meant to be professionals. Don't see people in manual trades taken 4 weeks off because they are overworked.

I think the body of a footballer is far too fragile for a proper athlete. Its like if you put them in a third or fourth tier rugby match they wouldnt last 5 minutes without limping off with a knock. That is what bothers me. Not trying to get the team up to new fitness levels but not being more resiliant

As we say in AF the best ability is availability
"Never debate an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and they have the advantage of experience"
