Re: Marcelo Bielsa
Lets not forget English isn't his first language, some of the subtleties maybe be missing.

Re: Marcelo Bielsa
Love the man
To get that group playing how he did against that Stoke side is nothing short of genius.
Some of the passing and movement was excellent, at times it was champagne football and wouldn't have looked out of place in the Champions league.
The effort he got out of those players though most impressed me.
Hernandez, 33 , running himself ragged for 95minutes.
Roofe, absolutely sweating buckets, his shirt was drenched, Afobe when he went off, looked dry as a bone.
Alioski and Saiz, not moaning, not waving there arms about, running themselves into the ground, getting cramp.
Ayling and Douglas to, up and down up and down, they never stopped.
They really were a credit to the club and Bielsa himself, very proud.
And while all this was going on, everyone running about like nutters, those 3 Leeds coaches bouncing and waving about, up and down all game, they must have ran as much as the players.
Bielsa sat there, barely moved, hardly changed his expression.
Sky mentioned how when subs came off Bielsa didnt do the usual pat on back high five things.
I like that, he isnt there mate, he is there boss, he gave them a job, they did it,.
But he had his 3 musketeers hugging and cuddling them
Like him a lot.
Even the interview, he clearly is trying to learn English, so he had a go, it was a bit awkward, but so what

Some great points there Cjay.
That performance yesterday had the stamp of a Bielsa led team all over it. The agressive closing down, the movement off the ball, defenders up in attack, strikers tackling back. All in all it was a brilliant all round display.
Now we just need to get him a proper chair outside the dugout LOL

Agreed, you could see Bielsa all over that team, immense credit to him because on paper we were going to get battered. Dont like to keep kicking him but if Hecky is in charge we do, shows what a quality coach can do.

JUst read that tons of companies are clamouring to sponsor Bielsabub's tub.
What would you like to see on it???
Leeds receive offers of sponsorship for Bielsa's bucket

Re: Marcelo Bielsa
Ok folks ....if he does well here this season how long will we be able to hold off the premiership?

Bielsa Tactics
Cant remember a Leeds manager deserving a thread devoted to just his tactics before.
Came across this though and thought it was worthy of its own place.
https://tikitakaleeds.com/2018/08/13/demolition-derby/
And then just to highlight how good our passing was, especially given the concern "well what happens when teams press us". . .
This

Thats Berardi, Philips and Ayling, not Hernandez, Klich, Saiz and Alioski

Re: Bielsa Tactics
Regarding Roofe, exactly what I saw, first game dominant and one of the best games I've seen any player play and second game not quite as good despite the brace.

Re: Bielsa Tactics
Not only his tactics on the field but also during interviews.
You get the usual questions that are divisive about whether
to play Roofe or Bamford... surely you can let a 7 million man
warm the bench? Or equally stupid after winning three games
will we win the league? Or do you have enough cover if players get
injured? Or will you be getting loan players in before the end of August?
Bielsa has a smile and a titter to himself and gives a reply that is completely
delightful and unexpected, and you get the feeling that he is some University
Don bringing enlightenment to a stupid student, and the reporter is left
feeling embarrassed and inadequate for ever having asked such a question.
He will not be not be drawn into the mealy mouthed, politically correct
evasive statements that you usually get from football managers. He inhabits
another world of philosophy and the art of war. He is a combination of
ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu and the Argentinian poet
Jorge Luis Borges who though being blind was director of the National Public Library
and professor of English Literature at the University of Buenos Aires.
Now it takes someone special who is blind to oversee a library full of books.
That takes a special skill that mere mortals can never understand, and so it
is with reporters, they expect to trap him with their weasley words, and the replies
he gives are as mystifying as quotes from One Hundred years of Solitude by
Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez.
He is a scholar and a gentleman... something you rarely see from English football managers
whose replies are on the level of jerseys for goalposts variety.
We have a mystical treasure on our hands... I would not be in the least surprised if the Pope
hails him as the patron Saint of football.

Re: Bielsa Tactics
The tactics from this man are spot on but the other thing in his favour is the respect / fear from the players , if 12 months ago Pontus had been warming the bench up for 3 matches he would of been on social media telling the world that he does not know if he has a future at Leeds etc etc , not now though as he knows Bielsa has the balls to tell him to go , we also now have serious contenders for places in a winning team that people want to play in , I think the players realise now you play to full potential or get dropped which is why Roofe looks a different player this year , Anybody who cant see the quality and class that Bielsa brings must be blind , were only 4 games in but I can sense the optimism slowly building with the players and the fans .
