The Tinkerman?

Post by Cjay »

Claudio Ranieri.

One of the most popular people in the game.

Already pretty popular from his Chelsea days, after winning the title with Leicester he became practically a saint in the eyes of the English football fan.

Name checked by Radz in the past as someone he considered approaching to be our manager.

Alan Nixon has said that Hecky's future depends on if Leeds can get in this "experienced, foreign, maverick coach", if so he will go (according to Nixon)

Thats basically the story of Hecky Leeds career.

Upon appointment it was strongly implied he wasnt first choice, indeed Ian Dennis of Sky Sports reported there were 3 candidates, Marco Silva was one, he was definitely approached.

Soo is the Tinkerman a good choice?

Would we be happy?

Or does the love for Claudio because he is a nice bloke, because he did one incredible thing because he is a big name.

Does that hide the fact that despite a 30 year managerial career, a career where he counts, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Chelsea, Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan, amongst his former clubs, Claudio only has 1 major trophy to his name?

What he did at Leicester was incredible, but it was one incredible moment in 32 years of management.

Lovely bloke Claudio, better then Hecky, yes, but the right choice for us, not so sure myself. .

I'd be happy with Claudio, he doesn't have to win a trophy with us to be successful.

Just imagine what an appointment like this would do for the club. Season tickets sales, players would be tempted to play under him, his aura would give the current players a huge boost. However much we have to pay him, we'll make it back in ticket sales and commercial income. Half the league are in ffp trouble, now is our time to move, otherwise we'll be down here forever.

Claudio would be a massive coup for our club, his presence would put us on the map worldwide, Sky & even the BBC would report this appointment

Unconvinced it will happen but if Ranieri does become our next coach I'd be over the moon :-D

Now guarantee Ranieri do better than Heck...lol
One point seems evident: if the club are able and prepared to invest serious money (at least in comparison to past seasons), and given that the coach has a say,
then it would seem obvious that such Investment would only seen as appropiate if they had full trust in the coach. Why would one spend money for players Heck would want, if one believes he isn`t up to it building a team?

It does sound like the club and Hecky are at odds.

Very much think if Hecky stays he will show he is just a yes man.

With Leicester he was given a great foundation on the pitch built by Nigel Pearson. With us he would inherit a bit of a shambles.

I'm not sure how he would deal with that task but it would be an appointment with ambition.

Hey Adam that's been a constant description from me for much of last season ;-)

Agree the Leeds job may not work out for Claudio, would still take a chance on him though

different foreign coach has been mentioned to me. Not saying who because I don’t know if it’s got legs. As for Ranieri, honestly not sure.

I'd hope he had legs ....or those cool looking blade things like the girl had in Kingsmen.

Yes thanks, sorry thought I'd copied Phil's name.

Doubt its Inzaghi.

Lee Sobot said he'd do some digging then came back saying it definitely wasnt him.

You'd hope he dropped Phil a text before saying that.

Quite anfew experienced higher profile coaches out of work atm.

QSF
Vincenzo Montella
Eduardo Berizzo
Slaven Billic
Etc

Fingers crossed.

Although blindingly obvious we wouldn’t be getting Inzaghi, it’s usually best to Ignore anything Lee Sobot comes up with, he is always wrong. He was the idiot who said Tom Pearce had signed a new contract.

I'd love any of QSF, Berizzo or Bilic. De Boer and Oscar Garcia are also available.
