Eurovision farce ???
Did anyone see this farce last night ?
Austria looked like they had won the contest with Sweden about ten points behind in 2nd place after 43 countries had nominated their votes
Then they went to an audience vote which was more rigged than the original political voting
In the end Israel who were 40 points behind the original Austrian leading song won it
This young lass impersonating a chicken looking like Bjork won it with a truly awful song

I hope this points system is introduced into the Championship next year, we could play rubbish all season as usual, but then are handed a crazy amount of points & end up being promoted

I spent the day with some friends of Cypriot origin who were devastated that the favourite - Cyprus - was beaten by the Israel song. Maybe the 'message behind't that song was the deciding factor, but it's an absolute shocker.
Eurovision has always been a bit of a farce with so much politically-based voting, I don't know why anyone takes it seriously.

Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

The UK should pull out of it & let the rest of Europe + Australia get on with itHarryofOz wrote: ↑Sun May 13, 2018 8:31 am I spent the day with some friends of Cypriot origin who were devastated that the favourite - Cyprus - was beaten by the Israel song. None of our recognised musicians wouldn't touch this contest with a barge-pole nowadays
Re: Eurovision farce ???
We started watching The Eurovision Leon, but turned off after the Uk song...but didn't our lass do well after she was approached by some protester? She looked visually shook up but then gave such a powerful performance as if to say "you aint stopping me mate!"

Re: Eurovision farce ???
we finished 24 of 26 despite an increase sympathy vote ...how bad must the song have been?
We maybe not pull out but just take the piss with our entries in future...or is that what we've been doing for 30 years?

Re: Eurovision farce ???
The UK song wasn't as bad as some of those at the top
Problem is the rest of the world hates us & are determined to make a fun contest all political
Politics should never come into it mate !
Pull out of the damn thing.....the UK, USA, Jamaica know they have the best music in the world anyway
Re: Eurovision farce ???
Of course she would be shocked when some idiot invades the stage Swannie yes she did very well under horrible circumstances. There are always nutters who want to spoil events such as these because they want to make a point with their extreme views !whiteswan wrote: ↑Sun May 13, 2018 10:37 am We started watching The Eurovision Leon, but turned off after the Uk song...but didn't our lass do well after she was approached by some protester? Re: Eurovision farce ???
Interruption aside that's an awfully contrived and cliched piece of music. Voice is tolerable, so not her fault

Re: Eurovision farce ???
Gone are the days when everybody sang in their own language to the accompaniment of a live orchestra.
Even when the mike was snatched from her the backing tape was still playing on. It is more about
staging, lights flames dancing and costumes than it is about music.
The Waylon Jennings clone had a backing band who could not play their instruments and were only there
to dance and add to the spectacle. Fake eye lashes fluorescent neon colours, loads of sparkle and glitter
smoke and fireworks, flashing stroboscopic lights. All the gear and no idea.
Perhaps the visuals had more to do with the outcome than the songs themselves. Pathetic pyrotechnics.

You give this s**t too much relevance. The whole world knows that it is a corrupt `competition`.1964white wrote: ↑Sun May 13, 2018 11:32 am The UK song wasn't as bad as some of those at the top

People who want this event to be meaningful by being a honest... blablabla whatever are
a bit deluded themselves. This event would demonstrate the total lack of good taste whatever the circum-
stances would be.
It`s an exhibition once more of human stupidity and bad taste.
