Spot of the Antarctic

As you plough through the snows of December
Remember that poor Captain Scott
Wasn't he the second to reach the South Pole?
Well no, in fact he was not.
Roald Amundsen, he was the first
Or that's what everyone reckoned.
But we've all been under a misapprehension
I've been toald that Roald was second.
When he arrived at his goal
A small patch of yellow snow marked it
For who was first to the pole
Spot of the Antarctic.
It was an elementary mistake
That put Roald out of the hunt
How can the man at the back of the sledge
Beat the dog he has tied to the front?
Then half way through the journey home
He spoke to his pet with regret
"I've miscalculated, our food is all ated
And McDonald's haven't opened here yet."
No for Roald the example of Oates
No bravely going out for a walk
He simply shouted "Come here, Spot"
And got out his knife and fork.
The dog may be gone, but the legend lives on
All down the years dog's have barked it
For who was the first to the pole?
Spot of the Antarctic.

It's turtle chaos herein Blyth town centre schools could close
Bus's might have to stop running ,vic the landlord is telling people to stay in the bar all day
As as type it's still heavy at least 1/3 of an inch.
Could be at least 1 inch by dinner time.

It's bleaching down at the minute,
Sandra left me a shopping list for morrisons
But soon after leaving the house the conditions worsened
I've only been able to make it as far as the BLYTH n Tyne bar.
Morrisons is a good 60 yards away but I've got to take conditions into things.
I've done a risk assessment Imho it's too dangerous :duno:

A sprinkling of snow here in East Yorks overnight

I fear much more snow which could be disruptive.......a real pain as I have a busy week with business, three bowls matches plus the trip to Middlesbro' on Friday. Fingers cross it won't be as bad as the weather experts are predicting

Horrendous driving conditions this morning, absolutely no roads gritted whatsoever!!! I bitterly regretted my decision to drive the moment I turned out of my side road and realised the main road hadn't been gritted!!! Just had a text from Thomas' school to say that due to the adverse weather conditions they are closing the school at 12. Boss decided to close the office at the same time too :P :bear:
I'm going back to 505, I saw them at Sheffield and they were amazing.

Our villages are rarely gritted even though we are on a school run

I see our council taxes have significantly increased too.....for what ?

I don't drive in the snow bb. I'm really hopeless at it. I once skidded into a fence and when I got home I realised I'd lost my number plate. I had to track back to find it and there it was, stuck in the fence

I'm hopeless too swan, I really underestimated the driving conditions this morning! Years ago on my way from Bramley to Selby I spun the car round on a hill which really shook me up :( :bear:
