Leeds v Burton - Team/News/Reports

Post by 1964white »

Leeds United could recall midfielder Pablo Hernandez after he missed the last two games with a dead leg.
Full-back Lewie Coyle is facing up to 12 weeks out after suffering a knee injury in the EFL Cup win over Norwich on Tuesday.
Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough has no new injury or suspension concerns.
The Brewers, who are yet to win away from home in the league this season, have striker Stuart Beavon available after illness.

Match facts

- This will be the first meeting between the two clubs

- Nigel Clough has a 100% win record against Leeds as a manager, winning six out of six games when manager of Derby.

- Leeds are unbeaten in their last four home league games, winning three and drawing one.

- The Brewers are still waiting for their first away win in the second tier, having lost three and drawn four of their games on the road so far.

- Garry Monk's side have conceded just three goals in the first half of games this season, a joint-low in the Championship (level with Derby).

- Jamie Ward has been involved of four of Burton's last five league goals (2 goals, 2 assists).

You can't argue with Clough juniors record as a manager against us, Burton will be a tough nut to crack but i think we'll be just s bit too strong for the Brewers. Hopefully Grimes will be nowhere near the starting XI or even the bench for that matter.

This is the first competitive match between us, we met at the Pirelli stadium in 2012 for a pre season friendly, winning 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Varney

Going for 1-0, hoping the Pontus factor will provide us the clean sheet & our goalscorer is almost a given this season

Think it is harsh to write these two off - yes at present they certainly shouldn't be starting given their recent form but we know that Mowatt has the ability, as shown in previous seasons and likewise Grimes showed potential early on in his career. Just the same as when a new youngster comes through and we hail them as the next best thing we need to realise that all players go through dips as well as peaks. If we can get Mowatt back to his best then we have an attacking midfielder who can score goals and that would be priceless in this team.

Mowatt has been poor for two seasons, how much longer does he need ?

I really rated Alex when he first arrived on the scene, he then went on to have very good season in 2014/15.
After saying that I never thought Mowatt would make it to premiership level as he is far too slow . Now he seems to have lost all his energy levels which is a major concern because if a professional footballer can't sustain ninety minutes he has a serious problem making it at even championship level.
Read something about Alex which i refuse to print but if true would make sense why he is so laboured & lethargic !

As for Grimes he probably needs more time although he should of shown much better bearing in mind the level he has played at, Monk obviously rates him so lets hope he steps up a grade in time
