Nottingham Forest Vs Reading Cancelled After Heavy Downpours!

Post by YorkshireSquare »

The match between Nottingham Forest and Reading has been cancelled! The reason? A heavy downpour that hit the sporting schedule on Saturday. The rain led to the cancellation of the match plus postpone of six games in the EFL and two race meetings!

Two major League games were called off. Tranmere's League One against Doncaster and Bolton's match in Lincoln were victims of the weather! Waterlogged pitches are no place to play a good match of football.

The City Ground Stadium held a pitch inspection at 12 pm on Saturday. This was to check if the situations were suitable to proceed with the match. Yet, muddy pitches and water pools reinforced their idea of postponing matches.

Clerks of the course at Doncaster, Roderick Duncan, were set to inspect the course at 07:30. Following 32 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours, the check was issued earlier. He had to release information about the state of the pitch. Forecast led to the cancellation of the meeting. "The forecast has been correct, and they are predicting the rain to continue until 3pm", said Duncan. The news was a big disappointment for all those who look forward to the match. It was more for those at Doncaster!

The match between Nottingham Forest and Reading was one of the six matches throughout the English Football League System. Rarely does an entire football season reaches its end without disruption. Yet, the club made sure to seize the opportunity to do some charity. They made the best of their scrapped fixture and donated all food that would've been served. A local charity for homeless, Framework, got treated with pies, pastries and sandwiches. Around 3000 food parcels were dispatched to the charitable organisation.

It's a simple act, for sure, but that will mean a lot to those in need! The gesture got intense approval and appreciation on social media. Fans of the European Cup Winners were particularly proud for their action. One said, "I love what this club has become - it's every bit as important as what happens on the pitch as far as I’m concerned."

Nottingham Forest is to break a two-match losing streak. They currently hold the tenth rank on the Championship's table. If things go as planned, Sabri Lamouchi's men will face Luton Town. They will be joined by millions at Kenilworth Road next Saturday.

Will you be joining the audience at the stadium next week? Fans of football are not going to miss it! While you wait for the big day to draw near, you might want to try some football entertainment.
