I'm loving the Soft Cell debut album 'Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret' all over again.

New Elbow album 'Audio Vertigo' arrived here in the Wolds last week.

Having noted the recommendation from faaip, I've been working my way through the Flaherty Brotherhood tracks on Spotify today.

Some really good stuff there and I love the artwork that goes with them

As I seem to recall you mentioned, faaip....it's odd why they've released 30 singles in 2024 and no album :?

Very strange ... something seems dodgy about it. No EP's, albums, just single track releases.

They probably drop digital tracks as they record them rather than wait to release full albums, they drop more cover artwork that way which appears to me to be made by A.I software rather than made by human creative hands, their record label uses a lot of A.I on their releases it stops illustrators earning a living but that's the way it's going nowadays.

Just read two albums due to be released in the next month or so that would stir John In Louisiana's interest.

Richard Thompson 'Ship To Shore'
His first album in six years from this prolific singer/songwriter

Little Feat 'Sam's Place
A blues album from the west coast band, their first studio album in twelve years.

I watched a documentary last night about GG Allin.
Man, what a degenerate.
He was famous for s**tting himself on stage and throwing it at the audience.
Most of his concerts ended in mass brawls that spilled out onto the street.

There's always someone who goes to any lengths to be different & attract attention.

Not at all, Rook.

Read about him when you mentioned the documentary you watched.

A couple of people/bands I'd never come across before.

Firstly, Al Manfredi and 'Blue Gold'......apparently half of the album is in effect a re-issue of an album that came out (to little fanfare) in 1973. It's very good.

Secondly, The Handsome Family. Never heard of them, but noticed the poster/flyer when we saw Kelly Jones in the week, as they were on the night after (the Thursday of the Norwich game) so brought them up on Spotify to see who they were/what they sounded like...........a bit Gothic Country and some pretty decent tracks there.

Never heard of either of them, even though Al Manfredi is right out of my era.

After reading up on both artists, I should give them a listen.

Margo Price is still on heavy rotation, Strays is the album. Chelsea Wolfe still leads album of the year with She Reaches Out To she Reaches Out To She

The wonderful Kate Crutchfield, aka Waxahatchee, Tigers Blood is a cracker too, ticket to see her live in Brighton

Waiting for the new Wand album, Cory Hanson maybe the best thing on the planet atm…

Screen Frogs’s Subterranean Wreckage Among Stolen Hues is another good album from 24 and of course there’s a new Pokey Lafarge out there

Have you read Eels Mark Oliver Everett's book - Things The Grandchildren Should Know.

It's autobiographical and quite harrowing in parts.

Well worth a read if you can still find a copy.
