Seen any decent films recently? Any recommendations?
I saw 1917 the other day and I thought it was very engrossing, definitely I'd recommend to watch it on a big screen rather than at home or on a device. The 2 hours just flew by, it's not often you think a film could be longer without dragging. You were straight into the action from the beginning.
Also saw Once upon a Time in Hollywood and The Irishman recently and didn't really care for either. I'm trying to watch as many Oscar nominated films as I can atm, still got loads to get through.

Think the Irishman is more about who's in it rather than what's in it, it whiled away 3 hours, decent but no more.
Been watching a few Seth Rogen films lately just put them on, nothing to think about, and pretty funny in parts, even though they follow a system.

The Lindsay Ellis piece on it is quite interesting:
I'm a music snob but when it comes to films I wanna be entertained and am happy with trashy blockbusters. I have a no gangster movie rule. Don't like real life movies much, try not to watch a move when I've read the book..(Trust me you don't watch the latter with me...I just keep saying that didn't happen in the book....
All the best movies I've seen recently would get ridiculed anywhere that takes this sort of thing seriously

I'd never go to a cinema again by the way unless it banned Nacho's and other forms of noisy smelly food. Nothing smells worse than nacho's unless it's pizza

100% agree on the nachos and pizza,
Enjoyed Once upon etc but not an Oscar quality movie,
Last 2 I saw at the movies were Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman. Enjoyed them both mainly because of the music.

I too liked 6 Underground Faaip
I watched Dark Waters yesterday, it is like an upgraded Erin Brockovitch and it is based on a true story. I enjoyed it
I surprisingly enjoyed Last Christmas too apart from the soundtrack !!
Ford Vs Ferrari was also very good, and not at all like I was expecting it to be.
I have just watched all of the Fast and furious series, good fun to watch
All of the Twilight Saga, but they were very predictable.

I didn't get on with that film, not sure what all the hype was about, and I didn't find it funny at all, yet others love it.....

I heard it was an analogy for the dangers of being indoctrinated by state propaganda and how we perceive certain people as being bad... much like Leeds and Patrick Bamford.

The films that left quite a profound impression were - Vahalla Rising and Melancholia, slow going but beautifully shot and atmospheric.
I also liked the recent series on Netflix - The Green Frontier

13 Hours- The Secret Soldiers
What a film, had me gripped until the very end. And a true story.
