Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
So how are Leeds getting on Rab???
MUSTN'T GRUMBLE Alioski off the post, Nketiah Header, Dallas equalisers
Did enough at the end of the game to win it. Ran Preston into the ground, on
any other day the score would have been 3-1

I'm unsure where you are getting that Preston are a top side
Our players were playing simple 5 yard passes to the Preston players at will, we assisted all their moves & created our own downfall through atrocious play. It was like committing suicide in the first-half.
Bielsa has openly criticised our players in that first-half, he wasn't happy one bit.

Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
Indeed. Hardly like Preston bossed it from start to finish. They came out of the traps with a gameplan to really get into us early on - no wonder that caught us by surprise as most teams seem to simply sit back against us be it home or away. If Preston had bossed the whole game playing that way then it would be worrying but the fact that we then dominated proceedings after 25-30 minutes shows that teams cannot do that level of pressing against us for even a full half - when Derby tried last year in the play-offs first leg they couldn't even do it for 10 minutes so I don't think many teams will be able to do it as well as Preston did.
I'd have been more worried if the match had unfurled the other way with us dominating for 60 minutes then Preston battering us for the last 30 minutes. Then I would be worried fitness was taking its toll on us but clearly that isn't the case. I think if we'd got the equaliser 10 minutes earlier then we may well have gone on to get the winner - I will be interested to see how Preston do in their next match as they were out on their feet and I wouldn't be surprised if they made a few changes for their next match or if they didn't but then got thumped.
We have had a blip - 3 matches without a win but the gap hasn't really closed. Hopefully we can put another winning run together and pull away again. Nothing suggests to me that we should struggle especially if we can get Roberts and Shackleton playing.
Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
Nobody is happy with how we started the game. But you fail to realise when Leeds play against teams they all seem to up their game, Preston have some quality players and a quality coach, if they aren’t a quality championship side I’m not sure what the criteria is.1964white wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 10:52 am I'm unsure where you are getting that Preston are a top side

Using words like abysmal and our team is lacking quality is well over the mark, but if you think Preston are a bad side fair enough
I realised I was dyslexic when I went to a toga party dressed as a goat..
Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
Agree, looking at Leeds it seems we like to ease our way into the game, turning the heat up early on against us is a smart thing to do, meant Preston we’re out on their feet towards the end of the game, 2 points from Fulham Cardiff and Preston isn’t great but certainly nothing to worry about considering other teams resultsweasel wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 11:02 am Indeed. Brentford were the only team who started the day in the top 9 who won.
When I saw that West Brom, Fulham and SW were playing Barnsley, Luton and Stoke I thought a win was essential for us but a draw kept the gap to eight points.
Probably our poorest performance of the season but we got a point and basically got away with it.
The flowers of common sense do not grow in everyone's garden
Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
Simply not good enough, that performance was unacceptable!
Positives
Fortunate to gain a point.
Lucky to go in only one down at half-time
Better 2nd half.
Nketiah made an impact.
Eddie's saved header.
Ali's strike against the woodwork
Phillips only decent cross for Ali's header.
Dallas deflected late equaliser.
Eight points clear of 3rd place
Still only one defeat in our last twelve games
Averaging two points a game
Negatives
The worse opening 30 minutes I've witnessed at ER from a Bielsa team.
Atrocious passing particularly from the back.
Poor retention of the ball.
Some of our players looked like pre-Bielsa.
No leader.
Liam was like Cooper of old, Captain Chaos came back to mind.
Ayling was woeful
Where have the 9/10 Kalvin performances gone?
Without Pablo, Phillips should have been taking control of our midfield, some glimpses of his form late on.
Was Klich playing?
Alioski is not a good defender
Alioski's shot from three yards nearly hit me in row Q of the kop.
For all I love Dallas's endeavour, he is not a central midfielder.
Bamford subbed ? there were others far worse than our No.9.
Harrison holding onto the ball far too long.
Weak bench, nothing new there.
If we are promoted, on performances of late this lot won't survive the premiership
Yet another team that cheated & wasted time once we got a grip of the game. A horrible championship trait these days. Something needs to be implemented to stop the spoilers.
Poor referee.

You hear about cat burglars leaving a calling card... they leave their signature
at every crime they commit. The same is true for posters on this forum... you
can instantly know who has written a comment from to tone and style of the
writing.
I wish we could see some square peg in a round hole writing for a change,
at least that would be refreshing.

Agree, move on, imagine the poor WBA forums I wonder are their players being slagged off as uselessChilli D wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 11:15 am Exactly Dezzy.

I'm saying how it is, as ever the majority of you are glossing over our deficiencies over our last three games.rab_rant wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 11:37 am You hear about cat burglars leaving a calling card... they leave their signature

Poor performances produce lost points
Btw my square pegs analysis affects our performances & ultimately the points.

Jansson gives Watkins cuddles, and Ayew gets a consolation for Swansea.
Brentford look the form team at the moment.

Are you having a laugh? WBA are top by 3, 11 clear of third. I’m sure they’re pretty content at the moment. I think the take away from yesterday’s results is that every team needs to be respected and no result should be taken for granted, the championship is a tough league

Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
Ooh little Brentford, the team I predicted to finish in the top six in Cat's pre-season competition after they had made some super signings in the summer, they need to hold onto Ollie Watkins though

Baggies were moaning like mad on their forums after their performance & draw at Wigan, and rightly so!dezzy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 12:10 pm Are you having a laugh? Re: Leeds Utd v Preston North End Match Thread
Beisla says clearly that his game plan is what his players set out to do and the word resources are used clearly aswell.
He would realise that he is probably getting everything from his starting eleven.
1 .Fitness ,2. Attitude,3. Technic that he wants to see at all times..However( he sees the limitation also off not any of above but the individuality of his players)
We all agree take Pablo out and we do suffer.
Yes he's only one cog but a strong/vital one at that. Marcelo deserves a bit more off aswell as on the pitch...but we wait in hope .
Love Marcelo ,Respect Marcelo& Trust in Marcelo. Its all in him we must remain worthy .
