Yes but the fallacy of the argument is that you can not tell
anything about a persons character unless they speak English.
Even If Bielsa does not speak English it is evident from his
handling of Spygate and paying the fine out of his own pocket
that his is both humble and honest.
A while back Tony Pulis suggested that Bielsa speaks better English than he makes out.
Apparently he spoke in English when the pair of them had a cup of tea together after we played Boro last season.

I agree in general, but it does really depend on the nature of your residence and work. Learning a language fluently needs a good deal of time and submersion in a that language and culture, and we all know managers these days are lucky if they're able to count on knowing where they'll be in 6 months time. So I'm more sympathetic to those situations rather than settling permanently in a country in which case I'l never understand the logic of not learning a language.
There's also the fact that he does know a fair bit of English, but that's just a know-nothing pundit's mistake, which is nowt new.
I personally think Bielsa just wants to give somebody a job even if he's doesn't 100% need an interpreter, because he's just that nice a bloke.

Indeed Marcelo is probably one of the most humble, honest & nicest men in football however I do prefer people in top managerial jobs to speak the English language in all walks of life. I understand he is a busy man & appreciate Bielsa gives so much time & effort to LUFC, he eat, sleeps & breathes Leeds United.
I know if I emigrated I would do my utmost to learn the language of that particular country
