Bamford back on the scoresheet as Leeds record back to back victories

Patrick Bamford scored his first goal since August, albeit from the penalty spot as the Whites secured back to back victories. The Whites dominated for large periods, and once against the opposition scored from their only shot on target. Do Leeds ned to capitalise on their dominance, if they are to reach the Premiership?


It would be fair to say that the penalty decision was soft, but due to the amount judgement calls that go against the Whites week in, week out, we were bound to get one in our favour sooner or later. You could tell by Bamfords reaction that the goal meant a great deal to him, and it looked like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders as he celebrated in front of the Kop. Five minutes later Bamford turned supplier. He controlled a long diagonal ball before calmly feeding Harrison who struck the ball into the back of the net (via the post) to give the England U21 winger his third goal of the season.

Leeds frailties from set pieces once again became apparent when Rovers were awarded a corner five minutes before half time. Blackburn centre back Derrick Williams rose highest to reduce the deficit. Leeds continued to show their superiority in the second half, but were unable to add to the scoreline. At least Blackburn didn't either!!!




Leeds join race for Ayala

Leeds have joined Fulham and Stoke in the race to sign Boro Centre back Daniel Ayala in the January transfer window. The 29 year old started his career in Sevilla's youth system when Victor Orta was starting out at the Spanish side. Orta also worked with the centre back at the Riverside Stadium. Ayala has played 161 times for the Smoggies netting 17 times. His 6ft 3 frame would certainly come in handy defending set pieces! Could Woodgate be looking to cash in on one of his prized assets knowing that the Spaniards contract comes to an end next Summer?

Pleased for Bamford even though it was a soft penalty decision, I take that as we've been robbed of several nailed-on penalties in the past

Ayala is a big strong CB, a dirty git tbh. Unsure he is Bielsa's type of ball-playing CB although the Boro' connection seems to be a happy hunting ground for Orta.

Yes, we do need to capitalise more on our dominance, but 2 goals in each of our last two games is a start, should be doing better though.

PLeased for Paddy and the chanting of his name as he stood waiting to take the pen must have given him a great deal of confidence, full credit to the fans who did that.

Ayala, another ex Boro player who Orta knows, no thank you, Ayala is a Championship cb and we are aiming for the Prem next season.

Although it was a soft penalty it was 100% a penalty as the Blackburn player completely missed the ball and clattered into Ayling. It was just a bad mistake from the Blackburn player. Heard a stat the other day that Man Utd have had 17 penalties since Solsjkaaer took over in Decmeber - so 17 penalties in 11 months. Contrast that to us and we are certainly due some more penalties.

It is always hard to judge on how many chances should be taken given some chances are not good chances. Then say if you take 1 in 3 or 4 good chances and maybe 1 in 7 or 8 half chances and suddenly the conversion rate isn't that far from average. The key is creating better chances to improve our efficiency and also actually hitting the target as Dallas and Harrison had 2 great chances but failed to trouble the keeper.

The Ayala link is probably just lazy journalism.

I can't believe how Ayling gets away with it, he flops more than our cat
