Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
The moment that really annoyed me was the one 2nd half when Pablo got the ball right hand side of the box, lots of time to shoot and decided to try and walk it in to the net.
JUST F*****G SHOOT.

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
Everyone saying Eddie/Costa should've started need to remember Bielsa rarely and rightly doesn't change a winning team so enough with the hindsight. Now we've lost they will be under serious consideration as starters.
A real gutting result though, considering how solid we were and how brilliant Cooper, White and Dallas were. The front line let the side down today on the whole but if Cooper's header at the end of the first half had been an inch lower it would've been a different game. Ultimately fine margins.
Nonetheless Swansea didn't really impress me and I think their form will dip further than ours over the course of the season.

But we've scored 2 goals at home, compared to 8 away. Surely anyone can see this isn't working at home. It was obvious against Forest for me. Why do we have to lose to make positive changes?mothbanquet wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:47 pm Everyone saying Eddie/Costa should've started need to remember Bielsa rarely and rightly doesn't change a winning team so enough with the hindsight. I hate this league.
I have a feeling that we wiil never get promoted.

Only leeds in this league would leave Costa on the bench. He is a starter ffs. Every time he comes on he scares the defences and they cant deal with him. Bamford is working his ticket now and close to getting dropped I'd imagine. ER is definitely becoming a nightmare to play at and seems to be making the players anxious. Results at ER have been crap for ages and this might prove to be the hurdle that stops them going up.

We've already thrown 5 points away at home now. How many more until we see it's not working? This is what will cost us promotion.

I guess your saying we may need to think about Bielsa's position SG90. If he keeps getting it wrong he has to go doesn't he?

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
No, but that doesn't mean he isn't above criticism either. If we don't go up, it'll be games like this which is why. It reminded me of the Blunts game last year, where they did nothing all game and then got lucky with the goal.
Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
I just think he's too stubborn for his own good. Its not happening at home and hasn't in a long time. If he is so good then why does he continue picking the same side which clearly doesn't work at home when teams come for a point or a sucker punch goal for 3. He needs to grow some and be more adventurous at home. He's not beyond criticism and actually if things aren't working out by xmas i hope he does go and let someone take over who's got some balls to try something different to get results at home.faaip wrote:I guess your saying we may need to think about Bielsa's position SG90. If it's any consolation we'll beat them in the return fixture.

Growing up following Leeds from the 1970s onward there was always that saying. "Its never easy supporting Leeds"
Wasnt that so true today?
Just saw the highlights, we created little, and then had the usual keystone kops defending to hand them the points.
Stop Pablo and you stop Leeds.
How many times did we have a chance to clear that corner....
There must be half a dozen errors from our defence, 6 of our players are in the 6 yard box when the cross comes in but none are on the posts. No wonder the keeper cant get anything on it. Then on the recycle one of our guys ( hard to tell on the replay) who is on the near post has a chance to play their prone player offside but doesn't...
Then once KP Harrison?and Pablo cant clear it the marking just goes to pot. Routledge has a free shot on the penalty spot
Contrast that with their marking on our corners. Man to man.
A few weeks back there was a lot if congratulation going on about how good we were at keeping sides away from our box. Today we saw how crucial that is.
Three goals we have conceded defending corners at home already this season.
Yes they got lucky as did Forest but we dont half make it hard for ourselves.
What a way to go into the International break.

Another big home match c**k-up to go with Norwich, Wigan, Sheff Utd & Derby
Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
It's not as if we didn't play well, truth is we huffed & puffed for much of the game. Same old problems still apparent with missed scoring chances, poor crossing, choosing the wrong options & not clearing our lines efficiently which cost us yet another goal even though we had ten men in & around our box .
ER is becoming a tough place to gain victories normal service will return when we smash the tykes at Oakwell

7 Cooper
7 White
5 Alioski
9 Phillips
7 Hernandez
7 Klich
7 Forshaw

6 Nketiah

I still think that the truth is that we are a very good championship outfit under Bielsa BUT not quite savvy enough to gain an automatic promo place. Its quite simple if you dont put your chances/ half chances away it aint happening ! Its enjoyable to watch but toothless and always waiting for the inevitable kick in the balls
Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
Hate losing games like that, and now we don't get the chance to put it right for a fortnight.
Not blaming Bielsa or the team though, we weren't going to go all season without conceding or losing, and we're still better than them.

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
Better than them?......but we couldn't beat them. They went home with the three points. That makes them better than us....surely
However they did it....they beat us on our own patch. Our strike force were inept.....and our defense was breached

Absolutely gutted about todays result, but I could see it coming at half time, smash and grab, is that the way to beat us, he huffed and puffed but never really created a solid goal scoring situation, neither did they, but the miss hit sums up our luck.We def need a out and out goal scorer, as we simply don't have one, we have loads of possesion but a bit like a soft porn film, there's no penetration, Bamford played his socks off, between the boxes, he needs to be in their box.maybe teams have sussed us already..still love the team to bits

Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
is nketiah lone striker material tho ? probably better playing off someone.
tbf , for me we seem to be less effective when we took bamford off .
tbh we need an out and out goalscorer . its been obvious for a while !
Re: Leeds Utd v Swansea City Match Thread - Cooper Returns
It was we pretty obvious needed a prolific goalscorer in the summer, we refused to go out & spend big money on one of the most important positions in a team, as it stands we are relying on a plodder who misses more than he scores & a young kid to produce the goods up top
