I think the ref felt sorry for them, which is stupid. A penalty is a penalty. No doubt he'd have given it at 0-0.

Good performance against tricky lower league opposition, some nice little glimpses as to what players can do. Don’t think you could be much more content after that

Surely that was one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a referee.

Flat out impeded the flow of play on multiple occasions. Missed a blatant penalty on the shirt pull. Extremely inconsistent all night long.

Thankfully his incompetence didn't result in anyone getting hurt. Where did they find this guy?

Wasn't back in time for KO last night so watched on catch up - comfortable win and really not out of second gear. Could have been a tricky tie so nice to be so dominant. Casilla could be the end of me this season though!

That highlight from twitter doesn't show it, but Shackleton's movement before the first goal was brilliant - moved all the way from left wing, dragging defenders before he got the ball out right. Great through ball to Costa and an incisive cross and finish. Good to see us manage to break down a tough defence like that.

Nketiah looks like-for-like with Roofe in terms of movement and I think he'll be pushing for Bamford's spot sooner or later.

Good performance against a really physical side, especially for the young lads. Thought Shack was particularly impressive and Costa will be a real handful. Berardi lead well and it was a great finish for his goal.

A few shaky moments at the back, but that's to be expected with what was essentially a make-shift pairing at CB and Ali on the left. Klich could do with cutting out the petulance/'shithousery' as I feel that he'll end up picking up a lot of silly yellows.

Stoke twice in a week around the next round...

Cracking deal for Nketiah it's looking like now, absolutely a Roofe clone, size, movement and instincts. Not sure he has Roofe's IQ yet but may be a touch better as an on the ball striker while retaining Roofe off ball skills.

Interesting game as Salford elected to play off us and deeper rendering Bielsa ball almost useless and try to catch us on the break. Bielsa ball struggles if you cannot pass your way through a defence.

Costa isn't there yet as a Bielsa ball player and that maybe what is keeping him on the bench. The instinct for him seems to be try to beat the man first then pass if boxed up. Pass and move is how our system works best, then use skills to beat you man close to goal when in position. Looks a player though.

Beradi deserved the captains armband and had a good game wearing it. Becoming a Leeds legend for me 6 years in now in an age where players change teams every three years it seems. He must have something to survive 6 years of managers and still be highly appreciated by the current one. Time Leeds fans got off his back

You kinda feel someone has to do it though and we've lost PJ now...Do you think maybe MB assigns the bad guy role to someone?

Part and parcel of playing in midfield, I'd say. Klich is not a dirty player, but neither is he a pushover. Both players or neither should have been booked last night, it was a six and two threes scenario for me.

Positives

We beat a lower league team
We're in the next round
Clinical finishing
Clean sheet
Pace in our attack
Kalvin Phillips outstanding, ran the show from the middle of the park
Ben White impressive once again
Debut goal for Eddie, a unusual pocaher goal for us
Klich wonderful goal
Shackleton's pass to Costa & cross for Nketiah's goal
2 assists for Costa.
Goal for Berardi & no one ran on the pitch
Kiko made some good saves, dominates his area but fans still don't like him
Davis looks better than Douglas & Alioski defensively
4 academy players playing
Alfie McCalmont debut
I predicted 3-0 with Nketiah & Klich to score :P

Negatives

Still look shaky when balls are pumped into our box
Anywhere else on the pitch the foul on Harrison would have been given
Referees still don't like giving us penalties
Clarke still not back to his best
Apart from a couple of crosses/passes Alioski was poor.
No doubt Forshaw will return v Wigan
Savile chants  some of the worse chants imaginable last night

Ratings

8 Kiko
7 Berardi
9 White
8 Davis
5 Alioski
9.5 Phillips (MOTM)
8 Costa
8 Klich
8 Shackleton
6 Clarke
8 Nketiah
Subs
7 McCalmont
6 Harrison
6 Bamford

I love Berardi. He's a beast. Maybe not the talent, but certainly the heart that could have played for The Don.

You wonder what some players must think of Leeds fans sometimes after those chants

Agility, pace and one touch football...A good reason to have smaller guys playing. Very few 6'4 players could do that
