World Soccer - Season Review

Post by YorkshireSquare »

We've been asked to help World Soccer with their season review for LUFC. If anyone would like to answer the questions below that would be great...

1 In a sentence or two, how would you describe last season for your club?

2 What are your hopes and fears for the 2019-20 season?

3 Who was your biggest hero last season?

4 Who was your biggest villain?

5 What was your team’s best song/chant last season?

6 Is there a youngster to watch out for?

7 Who is your most under-rated player?

8 How are relations between the fans and the owners?

1 In a sentence or two, how would you describe last season for your club?
Exceeded expectations but ultimately as the season developed expectations grew and ultimately disappointing, should have been so much more.

2 What are your hopes and fears for the 2019-20 season?
Hope to win the league, fear that last season was our big chance and it will be another 10 years before we have a chance again.
3 Who was your biggest hero last season?
Bielsa

4 Who was your biggest villain?
EFL, some baffling things, strange seemingly contradictory disciplinary decisions go against us but for other teams. Cheating FFP is fine (selling your stadium effectively to yourself for twice its value) but dont stand on public land and watch some.men kick a ball.

5 What was your team’s best song/chant last season?
The Alioski song!!!!

6 Is there a youngster to watch out for?
Mateusz Bogusz
7 Who is your most under-rated player?
Alioski :)
8 How are relations between the fans and the owners?
Hmm :duno: strained for me, born out of frustration and the predictable January c**k up.
Signed

1 In a sentence or two, how would you describe last season for your club?

Better than could have been hoped for, we got a hell of an exhilarating ride from our squad

2 What are your hopes and fears for the 2019-20 season?

We need to push on now, I hope we build through the youth with the minimum of added players. Losing Bielsa would be an early fear but a bad start to next season would be the nightmare situation

3 Who was your biggest hero last season?

Matteuz Klich - Player of the season and weighed in with 10 goals from midfield.

4 Who was your biggest villain?

The football league, they bottled a few decisions while penalizing us every chance they got

5 What was your team’s best song/chant last season?

No idea

6 Is there a youngster to watch out for?

Several - Shackleton stands out, Bogusz looks exciting, Davis, Gotts, Struick, Halme and Stevens must all be pushing to start next season

7 Who is your most under-rated player?

Kemar Roofe - It's not close, 15 goals from 26 games as striker and yet the fans seem happy if we replaced him, I doubt you could find a you tube highlight reel that had that many quality strikes either. His movement, football IQ and touch are second to none in the division. Losing Roofe to injury may have cost us promotion but Bielsa moving him to midfield before injury probably contradicts that.

8 How are relations between the fans and the owners?

They should be good, Rads has had an excellent two seasons in charge, a steep learning curve comes with the territory and he's showing a lot of promise. Orta in the main has been excellent finding talent too.
"Never debate an idiot, they'll only drag you down to their level and they have the advantage of experience"

1 In a sentence or two, how would you describe last season for your club?

Impressive, exhilarating, disappointment & heartbreak all rolled into one

2 What are your hopes and fears for the 2019-20 season?

Hope to win the championship, fear we may have missed our opportunity

3 Who was your biggest hero last season?

Marcelo Bielsa

4 Who was your biggest villain?

Samu Saiz

5 What was your team’s best song/chant last season?

Pablo Hernandez/Kiko Casilla

6 Is there a youngster to watch out for?

Jamie Shackleton

7 Who is your most under-rated player?

Kalvin Phillips

8 How are relations between the fans and the owners?

Good I believe although our board played their part in our promotion failure, poor player recruitment last summer & didn't do nowhere enough to bulk up a fragile squad in the January window
