Jamie Shackleton
No thread for young Jamie, so I thought I'd start one.
Absolutely magnificent tonight, he was mature beyond his years. Not just tonight, but the first leg he was outstanding as well. He should have featured a lot more than he has.
One of the first names on the team sheet for me next season. I've said for a while he's just as good as Jack Clarke, if not better. He hasn't got the hype of Clarke, but he's just as important. Good replacement for Saiz, as he brings pace and energy, which we have lacked a lot this season.

Do a good job for someone else when Radz sells him for £2.50 and a packet of Starburst.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
I think Bielsa has done a very good job of handling Shackleton. He has made a lot of appearances, even if they have predominantly been as a sub, so he has been eased in gradually so he can learn the game more rather than just being thrown in and having to swim or sink. Jack Clarke was great as a sub but struggled when starting and he is still learning his game. The difference between playing at U18s, U23s and the first team is huge and players need to learn how to cope in a game if the opposition nullifies their strengths. At U23 level how much do you actually know about the opposition players you face compared to playing at first team level where you will know everything about the player you are up against.
Too easy to just demand young players are thrust into the first team. Look at Sam Byram who played a full season at a very young age and hasn't been anywhere near the same player since. Handled better and he could have been an international now.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
Amazing, so chuffed for the lad.
Re: Jamie Shackleton
Well deserved.
Hopefully he has a bigger part to play for us next season.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
How good was this move & Shacks made it look so easy?
Re: Jamie Shackleton
It was very good.
We have a real player in young Jamie.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
I've been saying all season he needs more of a chance. Buzzing for him to get 2 goals. I just hope we don't loan him out next season. He needs to be integrated into the first team, with Klich, and be his replacement.
Re: Jamie Shackleton
Is he still doing his coaching badges? Imagine if he could be a Bielsa disciple
Re: Jamie Shackleton
Read somewhere that pre-lockdawn only 5 players in the Premiership had run more than 13k in a match this season. Jamie did more than 13km v Derby. Talent & workrate, gonna be a real star.
Re: Jamie Shackleton
Huge fan of the lad, hoping he stays with us for the long haul.1964white wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:49 pm Shacks signs a new four year contract

I was reading earlier that Shacks actually has the best win rate of any Leeds player ever (75%, 36 in 48). Mostly sub appearances but still an interesting stat

Thrilled that he's been signed. I think he is going to develop into a very fine player.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
Jamie was brilliant.
Luiz, McGinn and Barkley have been an impressive trio this season.
Shacks looked superb and with Klich and Rodders we totally overwhelmed them.
Makes you wonder if KP get back in.

I asked that question on another topic Cjay?
No slowing the play down passing the ball sideways last night, we drove forward at every opportunity
Re: Jamie Shackleton
He will because MB adores him and he is largely very assured.
I dont think KP has been that good this season tbh, wouldn't be in my top 5.
Was only 1 game but the class of Klich and Rodders combined with the youthful energy of Shacks was a brilliant combination.

Re: Jamie Shackleton
I'm kind of thinking the same. Let's see what Shackleton does over the next month. We tried to sign Cusisance. Seems Bielsa likes 3 midfielders. He's played Phillips, Klich, Forshaw. So could be room for KP, Klich, Shacks. Injuries might dictate selection more than Bielsa too.
