Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread

Hi Everyone
Leeds face their first of three games in six days on Saturday as Bolton are the visitors to Elland Road.
Bielsa will be without leading scorer Kemar Roofe and teenage winger Jack Clarke.
Roofe is suffering from Knee ligament damage which will see him sidelined for the foreseeable future whereas the 18-year-old winger hasn't trained with since collapsing at the Riverside Stadium.
Berardi and Dallas are available if needed though its more likely they will both be on the bench, ready to start on Tuesday at Loftus Road.
Izzy Brown came through another under 23 game on Monday, surely he will heavily feature, especially with Roofe in the treatment room.
Bolton have caused upsets this season, and although deep in relegation trouble, they will be no pushovers!

Dare I say it but when you watch the Norwich game against Bolton they were mostly punished by the long ball over the top... and hoof ball is just not our style. They put 5 in a defensive wall when facing our style of play and make it extremely difficult to get through on goal. Balls over the top to Bamford may be the way to go.

This simply has to be three points, be it a goal fest or a scruffy 1-0, no other outcome will suffice.
I'm confident it will be.

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
Other teams have parked the bus against us but even then we have had a decent amount of shots against them and have still only failed to score in 2 matches. Parking the bus simply invites pressure on and 90 minutes is a long time to survive against non stop pressure. The key is to create better chances and/or to take whatever chances come. Get in front and the opposition can no longer simply park the bus.

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
My concern is we have simply forgotten how to win games by 2 goals.....even being 2-0 up is rare. We were against Swansea but that soon led to a 2nd half of 1-0 down and a scrappy 2-1 win.
When did we last win a game by 2 goals?

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
If we can't comfortably beat them at home well sorry we don't deserve to go up automatically, these are the games you must win.
Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
Disagree, I've never bought into the theory that if don't win a particular game you don't deserve success.

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
The Season goes for 46 games not 24.
After the Blackburn game just before New year's we haven't done much, apart from the impressive win vs Derby, Swansea and nice draw vs Boro nothing much to rave about.
Teams that get Promoted usually have no troubles putting these teams away comfortably just how Norwich and Sheffield demonstrated last week.

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
in 4 of the 9 matches we have had against the top 7 teams we have won by 2 or more goals. When you consider that 2 of the other 5 matches saw Boro parking the bus it shows that our problem has more been because of teams simply parking the bus rather than teams trying to play against us.
5 of those 9 matches have also seen us keeping clean sheets which has in my eyes been as much to blame recently as not scoring as we have given teams a lead and made them drop even deeper.

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
Predictable, the bench will be way more interesting.
Still no creativity in centre mid so not expecting many good or clean chances.

Re: Leeds Utd v Bolton Wanderers Match Thread
I expect the bench will have a more experienced look about it with Brown, Douglas, Beradi and Dallas all likely to be on it. With BPF, Halme and Shackleton the other 3.
