The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tue 19th Feb)

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning Everyone

Leeds have been fined £200,000 for their part in Spygate.

According to Phil Hay, he believes Leeds negotiated this figure with the EFL in order to stop proceedings going any further!

He said that it “prevents an independent panel getting involved”.

What do we think of the punishment?

Lax, fair or excessive?

All I'll say is that Fifa fined Russia £22,000 for racist chanting against France last year!

Leeds fan Jack Platt has started up a 'go fund me' page to help pay toward the £200,000 fine!

Roofe may be out until the end of the season, but what an opportunity it is for Roberts, Brown and Bamford!

Its fair to say that Roofe's goals have all but dried up since Christmas, in fact the ex Oxford Utd player has scored 1 in 8 appearances.

Could this be a blessing in disguise?

Morning Ellandback

Personally I feel the fine is unjustified as there isn’t a case to answer but feel the Board have done the right thing in agreeing to pay it as going further would have cost far more in legal fees so hopefully it’s brought to an end now

Gutted that Roofe is out but you are right it’s time for one or more of the others to step up

As a striker he was averaging one in every two over his last 8 games but lets not let a good statistic go to waste.

Morning EB1 and Everyone,

So Spygate is done and dusted with us getting a 200k fine and warned about our future conduct.
The whole thing leaves a sour taste in my mouth. We're definitely not the first to do it but guilty by being the first to get caught.
200k for committing no crime except being culturally unethical. A shameful decision.

Gutted for Kemar Roofe.
His goals may have dried up lately but there's no denying he has still been putting in a shift.
We need messers Bamford, Brown and Roberts to step up to the mark more than ever. Starting with Bolton on Saturday.

No team better to be playing than Bolton. Let's hope Bamford can get a goal or two and that Roberts can impress at 10.

Would be nice to get Brown involved from this point on if Roofe is likely to be out at least a month.

Brown has nothing else to prove in the U23's in my opinion. He's lasting full games and scoring goals.
His time has come to mix it in the Championship. Whether it's because we have a comfortable lead against Bolton or because we need a goal, now is the time.
