How many Points required for Promotion ?

Mods feel free to delete this thread if there's one already.

This is the question that we are asking ourselves i suppose , it comes with the anxiety of being within touching distance of the Premier League and trying to look ahead at what games we are getting what points....

Just out of interest i looked at Ladders after 28 games last Season 2017/18 and 2016/17 and to compare it to now

2016/17 Season after Round 28-----------------------------------------------------2016/17 Season after Round 46
M---W---D---L---goals---Dif---Pts-------------------------------------------------------------M---W---D----L-----goals---Dif---Pts
1. Newcastle-----------28---20---1---7---56-22---34----61 1. Newcastle--------------46---29---7---10----85-40----45---94
2. Brighton-------------28---18---6---4---44-20---24----60 2. Brighton----------------46---28---9----9-----74-40----34---93

3. Reading--------------28---16---4---8---41-37----4-----52 3. Reading-----------------46---26---7---13-----68-64----4----85
4. Huddersfield-------28---16---4---8---33-30----3-----52 4. Sheffield Wed---------46---24---9---13-----60-45---15----81
5. Leeds United-------28---16---3---9---39-27---12----51 5. Huddersfield----------46---25---6---15-----56-58--- -2----81
6. Sheffield Wed------28---13---6---9---32-28----4-----45 6. Fulham-----------------46---22---14--10-----85-57----28---80
7. Barnsley-------------28---13---5--10---47-41----6----44 7. Leeds United---------46---22---9----15-----61-47----14---75

2017/18 Season after Round 28---------------------------------------------------2017/18 Season after Round 46
M---W---D---L---goals---Dif---Pts-------------------------------------------------------------M---W---D----L-----goals---Dif----Pts
1. Wolves---------------28---19---5---4---50-22---28----62 1. Wolves------------------46---30---9----7-----82-39----43-----99
2. Derby-----------------28---15---8---5---44-23---21----53 2. Cardiff-------------------46---27---9---10-----69-39----30----90
3. Cardiff----------------28---15---6---7---40-25---15----51 3. Fulham------------------46---25--13----8-----79-46----33----88
4. Aston Villa-----------28---14---8---6---42-25---17----50 4. Aston Villa--------------46---24--11---11-----72-42---30----83
5. Bristol City----------28---13---9---6---40-32----8-----48 5. Middlesbrough-------46---22--10---14-----67-45-- -22---76
6. Sheffield United---28---14---4--10---42-32---10----46 6. Derby--------------------46---20---15--11-----70-48----22---75
7. Fulham---------------28---12---9---7---46-34----12----45 7. Preston------------------46---19---16--11-----57-46----11---73
10.Leeds United------28---13---4--11---40-33----7-----43 13. Leeds United----------46---17----9---20-----59-64--- -5----60

2018/19 Season after Round 28
M---W---D---L---goals---Dif---Pts
1. Leeds United-------28---16---6---6---47-30---17----54
2. Norwich--------------28---15---8---5---52-36---16----53
3. Sheffield Utd-------28---15---5---8---46-29----17----50
4. West Brom----------27---13---8---6---55-35----20----47
5. Middlesbrough----28---12---11--5---31-20---11----47
6. Derby-----------------28---13---7---8---40-35----5-----46
7. Britol City------------28---12---8---8---35-29----6-----44

From the Mad man's Analysis  Well the past 2 Seasons at the halfway point Newcastle and Wolves were at a cracking pace in terms of Points with 61 and 62 Points respectively , we are 7-8 points behind that and they achieved auto Promo comfortably .

Everything in hindsight is fantastic if we would of parked the Bus leading 2-1 to Forest and if we would of taken our chances at home to Hull etc... at the same time we had some luck in stoppage time vs Villa and also Blackburn , what about the Penalty save from BPF vs Reading at home 1-0 and gave us maximum points .
All in all with the injuries and under 23's we have used certainly we have played above our resources IMO and no complaints where we are on the ladder , Biesla has been amazing when everyone was calling for signings and proved that he knows what he can do with the players at his disposable  once Dallas , Bamford , Douglas , Philips , Brown are fit and ready to go we have some nice impact of the bench.

I've done a Ladder Predictor and this is my Prediction which i wouldn't take any notice lol

This is how i think it will finish up

1. Leeds United--------90 Points
2. West Brom-----------87 Points better diff
3. Norwich City---------87 Points
4. Sheffield Utd---------84 Points better diff
5. Aston Villa------------84 Points
6. Hull City---------------80 Points

With Aston Villa vs Hull City Play-off Final and Hull winning 1-0

My Predictions for the above table :
vs Rotherham Win
vs Norwich WIn
vs Boro Draw
vs Swansea W
vs QPR Draw
vs Bolton WIn
vs West Brom Draw
vs Britol City Loss
vs Sheffield Utd Draw
vs Millwal WIn
vs Birmingham Draw
vs Preston Win
vs Sheffield Wed WIn
vs Wigan Win
vs Brentford Draw
vs Aston Villa Loss
vs Ipswich WIn

so 9 wins , 6 Draws and 2 losses from our last 18 games .

Thoughts ????

Think there is a similar table in faaip's thread.

33 points would do it I think.

Last week before Stoke game I posted that I think we need
9 wins, 6 draws, 3 defeats to do it. So after yesterday, I'm the same as you.
Rather any defeats weren't against any pf the top 6 though.

I think it's going to be below average for a top 2 spot so somewhere around 82-86 points should do it

I reckon 85 points would be enough for automatic promotion possibly slightly lower

Does this include a possible points deduction?

I sincerely hope you're right faaip. I just don't trust the EFL. Read today that Norwich have now written to them asking for the 'saga' to be investigated

Read elsewhere. 3 of the 12 are, Norwich, Bristol City, Aston Villa and of course Derby.

The 2 Sheffield clubs declined to get involved.

Can't see it myself

A good solicitor would take the EFL to the cleaners should they implement a points deduction

There's no precedent for points deduction, it would take a new rule and you cannot really do that then apply the penalty retroactively or your a laughing stock. Bringing the game into disrepute is probably the charge they would levy and I'm not sure that carries a points penalty

17 games left and I recon 30 points will be more than enough to gain automatic promotion, 9 wins 3 draws and 5 defeats is surely well within our grasp?

The nerves are building game by game it's immense.
Am I the only one that wakes up during the nights sometimes and just constantly thinks about Leeds and what is required to go up, it doesn't help when you set the alarm at 2am to watch our games and I haven't missed one thanks to LUTV and Bein sports.

I can't stand the thought of not going up automatically as through the play-offs we will get screwed over by the ref's, don't care if it's 2nd and not Champions.....this is our best chance.
Anyway enough of my jibberish but the nerves and the stakes are massive.

So still on track, now, W8-D6-L2 still on the cards=90 pts

Norwich is a mustn't lose lose rather than a must win.

My thoughts exactly Ges, I’m not negative but I’d take a draw now. Deep down I feel we are more than capable of beating Norwich but they know where the back of the net is especially at 90+ minutes .
Biggest game so far this season, roll on Saturday 5.30

I can see us acquiring at least 30 points from the remaining fixtures as long as we don't lose key players to serious injuries

So this is if we beat Norwich? Because right now W8-D6-L2 would = 87 pts plus Ipswich to go

17 games left we need minimum 25 points, realistically 28 plus
