Vote for your favourite album
2 Masta Ace and Marco Pole 'A Breukelen Story' 1304 1 Courtney Barnett 'Tell Me How You Really Feel' Ges 0 Ryley Walker 'Deafman Glance' Faaip 0 Kamasi Washington 'Heaven & Earth' 64 0 Thom Yorke ' Suspiria' 64 0 Gary Numan 'Savage (Live)' Durly
I need time to make a decision on my personal album of the year. I own all apart from the Gary Numan Live set in the Grand Final, enjoying five albums all different in their own beautiful way. Spoilt for choice this time especially as two of my hot favourites of 2018 from Car Seat Headrest & Natalie Prass were eliminated in the previous round.
Certainly a much harder choice than the Album of 2017 Grand Final with Nadia Reid's 'Preservation' album undoubtedly my favourite of that year

I'll have a think and a second listen. Kamasi would probably be my favourite from what is left but it's difficult, as IDLES was so far ahead of everything else last year, for me.

Kamasi is a big favourite of mine Durly, been on continuous play in my car over the last couple of weeks
I tried to like IDLES I really did but I couldn't get past that feeling you get when you hear, say, a modern band that sounds like Zeppelin. I'm afraid I'm comparing IDLES unfavorably with one of my all time favourite bands...and a feeling I've been there done that. Also I'm not keen on the vocals.
Apologies.

Well! After reading some of your comments on here I'm just listening to 'Morning Phase' album - Beck. On track 3 and absolutely loving it so far
Nice one, swannie, glad you're enjoying it

Blimey Swannie getting into someone like Beck
Is he guesting on Jane's next tour
Cheeky
I just think it's an opportunity to give artists a listen to who I've never heard of before. There was no way that I could have worked my way through all the albums in the competition in such a small space of time, but I can have a listen ro recommendations from folks on here over the next months....Car Seat Headrests next...
We've found a few 'new to us' artists from TV dramas that we've sound hounded. London grammar from 'Our Girl', Amy MacDonald from a James Nesbitt to name just a couple.

Beck is a very acquired taste, glad you are enjoying his music Swannie.
Ami MacDonald's debut album 'This Is The Life' is a cracker, her best imo!
Got it 64 Just had a listen and it was 'Run' we first heard on the James Nesbitt drama possibly called 'Occupation'.....right at the end. The song and the voice really wowed us.

OK. My vote goes to Kamasi. Hats off for some good recommendations this year though. Every album that reached the final cut I've really liked.
I really liked five of the albums in the Final, all on my shelves
2 Kamasi Washington 'Heaven & Earth' 64 2 Masta Ace and Marco Pole 'A Breukelen Story' 1304 1 Courtney Barnett 'Tell Me How You Really Feel' Ges 0 Ryley Walker 'Deafman Glance' Faaip 0 Thom Yorke ' Suspiria' 64 0 Gary Numan 'Savage (Live)' Durly
So we have a hip-hop & a jazz album as joint winners of the Album of 2018 both excellent albums imo!
Kamasi Washington 'Heaven & Earth'
Masta Ace and Marco Pole 'A Breukelen Story'
Shame we only had five voters in the Grand Final probably down to the genres of the six finalists nevertheless they were all very different in their own special way
Thank you to everyone who participated in this poll

Just catching up with this thread. Unfamiliar with all the chosen albums, so giving Kamasi Washington a listen and really liking it.
