One of my favourites too, acquired Bowie album.

If I can't find it I'll have to rectify the situation swiftly

I probably wouldn't have done either, only I was a student at the time and living with a Bowie obsessive. Reeves Gabrels was on guitar duties with the Sales brothers, Tony and Hunt, as the rhythm section. I think a lot of Bowie die-hards made a decision to dislike Tin Machine before hearing any output, but I liked it and still listen to the first album on occasion. Never going to make a Bowie top ten, but certainly worth a listen in my book.

Never really got into the Brit-pop scene of the 90's

20+ years on & I'm listening to Cerys Matthews Catatonia albums that had totally passed me by at that time

Catatonia are very melancholy in tone, exploring feelings of frustration, regret and uncertainty.

Equally Cursed and Blessed :star: :star: :star: & a half

My favourite of the two reviewed albums

Some of their songs are actually very good, some not so good. 'Valerian' & 'Bulimic Beats' are standouts for me. As the 90's was deprived of great songs in numbers I may nominate these tracks in our Mega-Song Polls

Way Beyond Blue :star: :star: :star:

A decent debut with Matthews voice lifting the album

Really? I thought they were a miserable bunch of Taffs with a droning trollop gobbing off into a microphone....

but hey.... what do I know?? ;-) ;-)
:)

Listen to the songs 'Valerian' & 'Bulimic' Hector, doesn't sounds like she's gobbing off to me, really nice imo :)

Met Cerys at a festival she helps organise on the Cheshire /Welsh border, had about a 15 minute chat, seemed a really genuinely nice lady, her 6music show on a Sunday is a bit hit and miss for me though.

The female of the species, is more deadly than the male, eh Swanster
Thought their albums were ok, but very good live, or they were in that era.

New Gold Dream was good at the time, slightly dated now but then surpassed for me by SM's magnum opus Sparkle in the Rain..Still have a soft spot for that album, must get it on CD at some point

I still love it for the laconic bass lines, chiefly. Generally skip past the singles.
