Ever checked something you wish you hadn't?
Read about the market crashes yesterday (FTSE wiped £36 bn etc) and thought I would have a look at my pension so called "pot"
Down ten grand in a day!
Well, at least that means I know what I am going to do in retirement.....work!

We can only hope things rebound somewhat sometime soon Dalton - I feel for you old son.
Let's hope in a relatively short time you're able to look back on it as a 'learning experience' and you see your nest egg begin to grow again.
My wishes go with you.

My wishes with you also.... Would hate anyone else to be in the same boat as I am now.....
You have a few years for the pot to grow again though.... usually doubles every 5 years.... well it used to average out at that....

Thanks Norm, I am one of the "its only money" types really.
Quite a cheap date overall!
Good film and music and a Leeds United Victory is one of the meanings of life!

I was thinking of you Hector - my best wishes to both of you.

I work for a Commodity Broker but dont trade.
A good hedge fund would sell in a mini crash and buy back at the end of the day making a profit
lazy funds do nothing to "ride out the storm" and lose clients a packet!

im 54 years old mate and retired 4yrs ago at 50 , i also watch the markets and track my pensions and investments and have had the same concerns over the years , it may seem a massive drop but in the bigger picture its miniscule and will come bouncing back in no time ,

I have said it before and I will say it again.

Think about it.

Couldn't agree more Rab
There are folk in this world with far too much affluence then there are those who struggle through their lives, far too much greed in this world
I've worked all my life since I was a 16yo, there have been times when I spent more time in the workplace than at home, that ceased in 2004 when I had to make changes in my life for the sake of my own health & sanity. Now I work from home & because of my good health I've manage to work & find time to enjoy my life socially too.
The downside I have to wait until I'm 65yo & 7 months to receive my state pension so I can't take my foot off the pedal for another fifteen months, shouldn't be the case when someone has worked his balls off & never drawn a benefit in his life. I will no doubt continue to run my business after retirement age so Jill & I can enjoy the fruits of life without drawing too much in our savings.
Those who are in a position to retire early are very fortunate people, should be the same for all of us if we lived in a fair-minded world
