The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tue 25th Sept)

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning Everyone

Leeds under 23's suffered their fist defeat of the season at Bolton last night.

Similar to the senior squad, Leeds dominated poossession but were unable to break down a stubborn Bolton defence.

Two breakaway goals, one in each half caused the damage.

Birmingham City have accused Leeds of trying to cheat during the second half by trying to introduce a multi-ball system.

At the start of each game clubs must decide whether they want to make use of a single ball throughout a game, or use ballboys to throw another ball to a player every time one goes out of play.

Leeds chose the single ball. Leeds obviously wanted to speed things up in the second half, but the fourth official was on hand to ensure Birmingham kept their advantage.

Things are not working out for Hadi Sacko in Las Palmas.

In total, he has managed just 59 minutes of football across three league appearances.

To make matters worse, he has not even made the bench in the last two matches.

Izzy Brown is well and truly on the comeback trail.

Asked about his progress while using the facilities at Leeds Beckett university, Brown told LUTV: “It’s gone really well here today; I’ve just been doing some hop tests and jump tests to see the strength in my right leg compared to my left.

It’s great that they have these facilities here where injured players like myself can come and do tests that we might not necessarily be able to do at the training ground.

“After watching the lads during the matches I just want to get out onto the pitch and play but I know I’ve got to wait for my time and hopefully do everything right, get stronger everyday and be back before anyone knows it.”

Morning EB1 and Everyone,

Just like the senior team, the U23's were bound to suffer a defeat at some point. Reading the report it sounds like they wasted some good chances. From a plus point, the fringe players in the senior squad got a run out which will help should they be needed on Friday.

If Birmingham really are claiming that we attempted to cheat by changing to the multi ball system then that is pathetic in my opinion.
Hopefully this story will gain zero attention from the media.

I'm not at all surprised about Hadi Sacko if I'm honest. Even on his best day he wasn't great. He's got great pace but all other aspects of his game are woeful and yet we gave him a four year contract I think it was? Cue LUFC attempting to offload him to various clubs over the next 3 seasons.

Really good news regarding Izzy Brown.
After such a serious injury it's going to take him a good while to get himself anywhere near match fit but I think he will be a real asset when he is.
We could have an embarrassment of riches up front in the new year.

Surprised we chose the single ball system, as we play a high tempo game.

No surprise about Sacko, always looked a poor player.

Good news on Brown, we could have done with him on Saturday.

Morning Chilli D. Apparently, the Latics keeper had an amazing night. It was a game that we should have won 4-1.

For whatever reason if there is anything bad to say about Leeds, it will be spread far and wise.

Morning Gessa, I can't wait for Brown to start for us. HE is very comfortable playing midfield, winger or forward.

Good morning Matt & everyone

Watched the first-half of the U23's game. We had plenty of possession however created very few chances & wasted the two we had, whereas Bolton were clinical in front of goal & could have been two up but for the woodwork at half-time. Impressed with Halme & the full-back Gott who looks very good going forward. Still unconvinced any of the U23's are ready for the first-team yet.

We need Brown fit as soon as possible.

An upgrade on Baker who looked ordinary last night as he did when I saw him in the York friendly

As for Sacko he is a sheer waste of space

I find it bizarre we don't use the multiball system. Even at Sunday League level I used to make sure we had 3 of the same type of balls so we could get play going again quickly. The advantage is completely with the home team as I'd instruct our subs to get the ball back quicker if it was our throw in and to also get the ball back quicker if we were losing and slower if we were winning. Leeds should have been doing the same as any advantage would have been for us - regardless of the score.

I recall Mourinho having a rant whilst at Chelsea when they played at Swansea and the Swansea ball boys were slowing the game down (seem to recall a player getting sent off for trying to get the ball back from a ballboy).

Only watched the 1st half, we wernt to good, only had to half chances, both were Jack Clarke, who once again looked our best attacking player.

Whether we did or didnt is irrelevant now, maybe we did cheat, so did Birmingham, or atleast they didnt play the game how it should be ideally. Niggly fouls, time wasting, players going down injured if we had a breaking opportunity, as an opposition fan its frustrating, but as a Birmingham fan its clever, so there we go.

Square it Hadi, nice lad but has the footballing brain of a ham sandwich.

Glad he is getting closer, but we still shouldnt have signed someone injured.

We're good at that Cjay, god knows what our medics are doing when they put our potential signings though a medical that often seems to take an eternity
