Smith had Middlesbro' & Scum as his options so he really did make the correct choice as he'd be competing at the top of the premiership as oppose to scrapping about in relegation battles with Boro' who lost their premiership status three seasons later.

Leeds fans forget that Smith chose to waive the personal transfer fee owed to him by the club, how many of the other players made such an offer?

People forget Smith only went to scum as they were the only ones who'd pay up front when we needed the money. Everton wanted to pay in instalments over 4 years. He probably saved the club.
