The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Mon 25 June)

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning and Happy Bielsa day everyone

Marcelo Bielsa will hold his first Leeds Utd press confererence this afternoon at 2pm.

The 62 year old only arrived in Leeds over the weekend, and it is not known whether he or one of his coaching staff will be taking the first training session?

The presser will streamed live on Leedsunited.com. Further social media updates regarding the presser will appear here later

In brief, these are the latest rumours over the weekend.

Leeds have been linked to West Brom Keeper Boaz Myhill. The 35 yo shot stopper fell out of favour last season and is available on a free transfer.

Thoughts?

We have also been stronghly linked to Bournemouth 30 yo forward Lewis Grabban. He scored 20 times in 34 appearances last season for Sunderland and Villa.

Good enough or not?

Jerry Mbakogu may be coming to Leeds after all, at a cut price of 2m. It is thought he would be more of a squad player.

If rumours are correct, Derby have now agreed to sell their prized asset Matej Vydra to Leeds, but only if they meet their 11m valuation.

Thoughts?

Lastly, according to the Daily Mail, Newcastle winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is set to leave the club when his contract expires shortly and is attracting interest from Leeds, Wolves and Watford. The winger is known for his impressive free style skills!

What speciality skill would you like to see added to the Leeds Utd resume this forthcoming season?

Putr them in order!

Specialist penalty taker

Long throw specialist

Free kick taker

Corner taker

As I say, quiet. Everyone must be on their jollies

Not sure I can watch a translated 2 hour presser

I know nothing about Myhill though I do know we already have a Championship goalkeeper

Know nothing about the winger, never heard of him..which doesn't mean much

Grabban would be a decent two season

If the money is available and wouldn't preclude the purchase/acquirement of other needs (pair of CB at the least and a striker) then go for it.

Afternoon,

Expecting the same old lip service all pressers give, big club, too big an opportunity, get them to the premier league, good players just need a few adjustments blah blah blah, superb set of fans, a good working relationship with the owner who wants the best for the club, blah blah blah.

Doing some work with a Villa fan atm and he was hoping they'd keep Grabban, rates him highly for our league.

Myhill decent number 2 to the solicitor.

Free Kick
Corner
Penalty
Throw in.

What Ges said!

If Bielsa is as thorough as has been suggested, I would imagine he'll know these players we've been linked with and will yes or no them accordingly. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there were signings coming out of left field that no-one expected

Great to see he has a correctly coloured Leeds badge on his shirt. Still don't why PH wore that red (orange) badge.

Bielsa on praise from Guardiola: "I don't like false modesty. Guardiola is the best manager in the world and his ideas have been created by he himself. In any of his teams, I've never seen any traits of my style."

Bielsa on last season's failings: "I don't like to evaluate seasons which I didn't take part in. I don't think it's fair to judge managers or players if you haven't been involved. I'd rather excuse myself from that reply, rather than give an empty answer." #lufc

@PhilHayYEP

Bielsa says he sees video analysis as "invaluable and indispensable". Says he enjoyed watching Leeds' 51 games. "I see it as a professional obligation to look into things in that detail. I don't want you to think I've looked into them for the sake of it." #lufc

@PhilHayYEP
Bielsa asked, by the man from Bilbao, whether he prefers Don Revie or Brian Clough. "I prefer beautiful football rather than pragmatic football." Take from that what you will. #lufc

Hey Faaip, interesting point about Grabban. He does score goals, but for some reason I don't rate him...

Morning Gessa, not sure Myhill would be happy with a number 2 position. Didn't Uddersfield release Rob Green - I'd prefer him...
