The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wed 13 June)

Good Morning Everyone

According to Phil Hay Leeds were tieing up the final details of Marcelo Bielsa’s contract last night.

The Argentinian is on the brink of taking the hot seat at Elland Road.

How has this affected Leeds promtion odds?

Lets take a look

Stoke 5/2

West Brom 3/1

Middlesbrough 10/3

Swansea 10/3

Brentford 5/1

Derby 5/1

Leeds 5/1

Aston Villa 11/2

Bristol City 7/1

Norwich 7/1

Nottingham Forest 7/1

Sheffield Utd 7/1

Sheffield Wednesday 7/1

Wigan 7/1

Birmingham 15/2

If and when Bielsa (touch wood) comes off, I wouldn't be surprised if we signed half a dozen South American's.

Theoretically, we could have 3 or 4 players called Hernandez <yikes>

Leeds legend Lucas Radebe has urged Leeds to take a look at Mamelodi Sundowns striker Percy Tau after an excellent 2017-18 campaign!

Speaking to football website KickOff, Radebe was full of praise for the South Africa international:

"I think he is a good player. I think he is one of the players that impressed. But for me, what I liked is the consistency.

"I'm not sure about the physical aspect, his presence on the field of play. Because look at [Lionel] Messi how he expresses himself; that's what Percy Tau should be able to do."

Tau, has 11 International caps to his name, and has had a hand in 30 goals during his 38 appearances last term. He scored 13, and laid on another 17.

A little bit different today. Which of the following have been the most disapointing? (Put them in order, worst at the top.)

Brolin

Kebe

Rush

Lee Sharpe

Seth Johnson

Peter Barnes

Cameron Stewart

Hi EB

I don't even remember Kebe and Cameron Stewart.

Of the others, either Brolin or Barnes would top my list.

Rush was played out of position (and in a team managed by George Graham who had the attacking ideals of...well he makes Mourinho side look like Brazil of the 60s and 70s) and I didn't expect that much from Sharpe or Johnson.

I hope Beilsa - if he gets the job - simply brings in three or four quality players rather than rebuilds the entire squad.

Evening Harry,

We had them both on loan about 5 years ago.

At the time we had no wingers, and everyone was very excited about bringing two Premiership wingers to the club.

Stewart came from Hull, and Leeds had an agreement to buy him after his loan period.. Cellino refused to honour the agreement, and it went to Court, and Leeds had to pay Steward over 1m.

I remember on one occasion Stewart broke free of his last defender just passed the half way line. Instead of sprinting directly towards the goal, Stewart started doing crossovers with his feet. On the radio commentary I thought Eddie Grey was going to have a heart attack.

I'm sure others to attend more matches will give you more examples.

Kebe, I think came from Palace. Everything he did turned to :poo:

Seriously, the Leeds faithful booed every touch.

Brolin
Barnes
Johnson
Sharpe
Rush

Kebe & Stewart were cheap panic signings, should never been considered to wear the white shirt of Leeds in the first place

Embarrassing Matt

Kebe had one half-decent game, he was dire. McDermott doing one of his mates a favour!

Stewart didn't even look like a footballer, he went from Man Utd to non-league Lincoln City. I see the Imps have recently scrapped his contract

Very cautiously optimistic...excited ? No. This is probably the biggest gamble we've made since Clough.

We could be about to get another shed load of mercenaries in again...Who was the last true"Leeds" player and hero.

Keep it simple Marcelo, most of the players already here are good enough and getting better. CFx2/CB plus replacements for whomever we sell..

I believe we need at least six quality/physical type players. God knows what Bielsa will think of some of our big girl blouses, I suspect he'll be horrified !

We have no prolific centre-forwards or decent wingers, central midfield is suspect & we have one decent CB. We require more pace & players with plenty of energy if Bielsa becomes our new coach, sadly there was none of that last season. I expect to see a real shake-up!
