Croatia are more talented but, as we have seen time and again, that almost hasn't mattered.
Russia have a whole country behind them and so far have been lucky, so it will be the usual lottery.

I was thinking I'd rather Croatia, not us, eliminate Russia, then Russian fans may start cheering us on against Croatia, but I think that thought was destined for the scrap heap.
Overall though I'm amazed we've achieved what we have. We just get more effective as we go on - I never thought Sweden would cave in like they did and I'm beginning to think we may even (with a following wind and a smidgeon of extra luck) beat Croatia and Belgium/France and actually win this thing.

Yes, the teams left are extremely skilful and smart, but so are we, and we seem to have some of that Napoleonic extra, luck. Come on lasses and lads - get wishin' and hopin' - as Dusty used to sing.
Whatever happens, this WC has been the best, imho, since 1990, and maybe even 1970.
