The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thur 24 May)

Good Morning Everyone

According to a German Journo, Leeds are about to dip their toes in the second tier of the Bundesliga.

And there was us worrying that we were going after Serie B players!

We got our hierachy all wrong!

Ronan Murphy‏@swearimnotpaul
Leeds United are closing in on Union Berlin defender Kristian Pedersen, with Bild reporting that he's set to move to the Championship.

The former Demark u21 player is predominantly at Left Back, though he can play as a left winger!

Where does this leave De Bock?

What about Pearce, Denton and Berardi?

The Abel Hernandez saga continous to rumble!

You'll recall last week thay BetVictor suspended bets on the Uruguayan joining Leeds after reading a fake Phil Hay tweet on social media.

Bets have been reinstated, and his odds of joining Leeds have been slashed from 10/1 to 2/5.

But on Tuesday afternoon they reinstated the market with Hernandez's odds of being a Leeds United player slashed.

He is now 2/5 on to be at Elland Road next season, with Leeds as the heavy favourites to win the race for his signature.

Thoughts?

Put these full backs in order!!!

Dorigo

Mills

Sterland

Harte

Kelly

No nothing of Pedersen so probably unfair to judge although going for players for 2nd tier European clubs does make you wonder have we learned any lessons from last season. Don't rate De Bock, Denton isn't good enough yet & Berardi is only back-up for me
I don't believe I got our hierarchy wrong :P

Concerned about his fitness, played under 100 games in four seasons

My Hull season-ticket holder friends don't rate him but Hernandez has to be better than the League One strikers at ER now

Morning Leon,

Who are our best centre backs?

If we were able to get Abel, would that enable us to attract better players?

Perhaps Pederson is a squad player?

Toss up between Reaney & Cooper

The great George Best never had a good game against Speedy Reaney

Cooper is our best attacking LB of all-time

Then you can't forget our Rolls Royce Paul Madeley who was adept no matter what position he played in

Looks like another Laurens De Bock signing. Assuming De Bock is on his way out because they didn't offer Pearce a contract to make him third in line. Personally I'd have used DeB and Pearce as my 2 LB's next year. Hopefully this guy is an upgrade on DeB. I don't think there's a place for Berardi either since Lewie Coyle looks sure to play a role next year.
Ellandback1 wrote: Thu May 24, 2018 7:13 am Abel Hernandez
Probably the biggest summer signing we could make. Make it happen. And tell Carpi we're sorry, we changed our minds.

1. Dorigo - pure class, would have got a bunch more caps for England if not for Stuart Pearce
2. Sterland - loved watching him link up with Strachan on the right
3. Kelly - Leeds through and through. Great pace but lacked quality. Loved his loyalty to the club after we signed Danny Mills
4. Mills - Great passion but I don't think of him primarily as a Leeds man
5. Harte - Free kicks but lacking everywhere else.

Cant comment on Pedersen, never heard of him till we were linked. Did a bit of reading, confirmed he turned down Fiorentina in the summer by the player and tracked by Leipzig so two clubs renowned for there youth scouting, hopefully means something.

Quite like the sound of his versatility and height, team of midgets, a back four of 6fters is a good start.

Concerned about Hernandez's injuries, if signed we need to sign a backup imo.

Kelly
Mills
Harte
Pass on the rest.

Morning Andrew, I'm pretty sure we offered Pearce a renegotiated 3 year deal...

Morning Hector, amazing how Harte continued until he was 38, as he was very exactly blessed with pace, but his free kicks were great, don't recall him missing too many pens and a great crosser of the ball (if I remember rightly).

In his later career, he was moved to centre back. Perhaps we should have done the same?

Morning Cjay

Kelly would have done anything he was asked to do at Leeds. If I remember rightly in his youth, he was a forward, but Leeds made him into a right back...
