Was surely a bit overdue, Arsenal been going backwards for a few seasons now. From the outside it feels like the who thing needs a freshen up. But AW will go down as one of the greats - seemed like a true gent as well.

You are probably right, they certainly didn't look like they were ever going to make a serious challenge for the league title, but they were regularly in Europe and picking up domestic silverware. Most clubs, and their fans, would be happy with that.

As you say will, go down as one of the greats.

Wenger has achieved great things over the years

Gooner fans have watch plenty of scintillating football, at times on another planet

Still only one of six clubs to win the premiership winning it three times since it's intervention in 1992

I have a couple of Liverpool supporting mates who were having a chat at the time Stan Collymore was at Liverpool and Denis Bergkamp at Arsenal

One of them was a huge Collymore fan, the other a big fan of Dutch football who said that he wished Denis Bergkamp was going to play for Liverpool rather than Collymore, to which the former said 'Denis who?!!' :)

Had to Google the 6th, Blackburn Rovers - who it now looks like we'll be playing again next year.

Yes Rovers won it when Jack Walker ploughed his money into his club.

Alan Shearer scored 34 goals in 42 appearances....shows the importance of having a top striker at any club, unlike us !

Arsenal were brilliant the first half of his reign, but they've done little of note over the last ten years. CL qualification every season is all well and good, but for a team that won the title 3 times, that lack of ambition to push on and challenge rankled with a lot of fans. Personally, I think Wenger never managed to adequately replace the likes of Seamen, Adams, Viera and Henry (which is easier said than done, granted) and they had/have a very soft underbelly. What my dad calls a 'sunshine team'; great at season start and finish, but bang average during the cold winter months when pitches aren't like bowling greens. Very good manager, but stayed on a few seasons too long, imo.
