Peter Lorimer was a professional cheerleader for Ken Bates for years.

Norman Hunter walked out early last game "cant watch anymore of that" as he left.

Eddie Gray commentates every week, he hant been impressed recently.

A real team, with real team spirit, they played and fought as a team for Leeds not like the current squad

I'm sure somewhere I heard George Best say his toughest opponent was Paul Reaney , always had a tough time when they played . Guess you can't get more complimentary than that I think over the years a lot of people have forgotten Reaney's contribution to that side , bloody brilliant defender ...bloody brilliant side . I'd love to see that side against any modern side , not only could they probably match them tactically and skilfully , they'd also kick the s**t out of them and terrify them equally beautifully . People though of that era always say what a dirty side they were and also mention the gamesmanship .....but in that respect they were a forerunner of the modern sides , as for the dirty - well a lot of people seem to conveniently forget that every team had its hard man . Leeds just had more and were better at it .

Probably the same in all/most leagues of the time?

The Italians were hardly softies and the Germans could dish it out.

The Dutch didn't exactly allow teams to walk over them either marrying skill and steel.

It's why I prefer to watch the old re-runs of The Big Match on telly.

'Proper football' as my eldest lad calls it.

The only live football I watch on telly is when Ireland are in action.

League of Ireland getting better skill-wise, but still with a nod to putting the boot in!
