Leeds players on international duty

Post by 1964white »

Whites stars set to feature on international stage.

A number of Leeds United players have been called up by their respective countries for fixtures over the March international break.

Ezgjan Alioski has been called up by Macedonia for their friendlies against Finland and Azerbaijan. Macedonia play Finland on Friday 23rd March (4:00pm) and Azerbaijan on Tuesday 27th March (6:00pm).

Winger Stuart Dallas has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their match with South Korea. The Green and White Army play on Saturday 24th March (2:00pm) at Windsor Park, Belfast.

Young Academy goalkeeper Will Huffer has linked up with the England Under-20s squad for their two matches against Poland and Portugal. England play Poland on Thursday 22nd March (5:00pm) in Wroclaw, before entertaining Portugal at the Manchester City Academy on Tuesday 27th March (7:00pm).

Pontus Jansson has joined Sweden as their preparations continue for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. They face Chile on Saturday 24th March (5:00pm) at the Friends Arena, Solna. Sweden then have an away trip against Romania on Tuesday 27th March (7:30pm) at the National Arena in Bucharest.

Young midfielder Alfie McCalmont won his first cap for Northern Ireland's Under-19s earlier in the campaign and will once again link up with them over the international break for a traning camp.

Eunan O'Kane has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their friendly match against Turkey. The Republic of Ireland play at Antalya Stadium on Friday 23rd March (5:30pm).

Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has been rewarded for his recent performances in the Leeds United first team, linking up with Northern Ireland's Under-21 squad. They face Spain on Thursday 22nd March (7:45pm) at Shamrock Park, Portadown and Iceland on Monday 26th March (7:30pm) at The Showgrounds, Coleraine.

Winger Hadi Sacko has been called up by Mali for the first time. Mali face Japan in Belgium on Saturday 23rd March (12:20pm) at the Stade Standard de Liege.

Guinea Bissau have named uncapped Leeds United Under-23s midfielder Romario Vieira in their squad for their two friendly matches. They face Burkina Faso on Friday 22nd March and Congo on Monday 26th March, with both games taking place in Paris, France.

Ronaldo Vieira is on standby for England Under-20s, for their fixtures against Poland and Portugal.

How come has Sacko been called up. Mali must be poor having limited options by selecting Hadi

ROI must have similar problems with the selection of O'Kane, the Turks will eat him up

Ronaldo can't get a game & is sadly out of form at Leeds although he's only on standby

It's incredible to think that average players can gain international caps, just look at the English lads who have been handed caps like confetti over the last three decades

Surely Mali must only have 11 to choose from if Sacko is picked

Mali must be short of players as they only have one scheduled match during the friendly matches.

If they acquire a couple of injuries/suspensions perhaps they maybe up the creek !

Should have included Japan v Mali in the International 20 competition with hindsight

Can't find out whether Ideguchi is in the Japan squad. They have games against Mali and Ukraine.
