Re: Mega Favourite Song Poll Round 8 - Decades NOMINATIONS Please
Recently discovered the Sound Defects, sort of Stereo MC's/Parov at his best but extremely hooky...Iron horse is an album worth chilling out to.

Last second change of mind regarding Sound Defects ...was going to go with the stunning Sudan Archives (Point Riot this way 64, right up his street I'd have thought) But she's going to have to wait

OK change them for
60's Velvelettes - Needle a haystack
And
80's Visage - Mind of a Toy
Cheers

John - if scroll back a couple of pages (p95) you'll see the The Smiths track has already been chosen before (by 1304) and a decade winner indeedJohn in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sat Aug 04, 2018 3:26 pm Oops. Sorry.
Let's go with "Cupid" by Sam Cooke for the 1960's and "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths for the 1980's.

The beginning of the Angels track (before the vocal kicks in) reminded me of the intro to Python Lee Jackson's In a Broken Dream.
Will give the album a listen

Love it John but lost 10-6 to Running up that Hill in round 3 on my nom. Feel free to give it another spin though one of the great soul tracks absolutely deserves a second chanceJohn in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 3:52 pm What on earth is wrong with me?????

Re: Mega Favourite Song Poll Round 8 - Decades NOMINATIONS Please
I can't win for losing.
Honestly, does it matter what I nominate? I have yet to have a song go past a second round.
So I will just give up trying to nominate something I think will advance and go again with something I love but doesn't stand a chance. My ego can take the hit.
1980's: Blue Orpheus from Todd Rundgren's brilliant (and I mean brilliant) album A Capella. His singing is incredible.

So my official nominations are:
1960's: Sam Cooke - Cupid
1970's: Van Morrison - Caravan
1980's: Todd Rundgren - Blue Orpheus
1990's: Matthew Sweet - Girfriend
2000's: The Strokes - The Modern Age

Well the Morrison is getting votes from me, don't think that's Cooke' best work (A Change is Gonna Come) and have yet to hear the others.
